big statement peewee when we are only about 6 weeks into it, but it's somewhat true. I would say we have been 'inconsistent' but one could argue they are one and the same.

Anyhow I thought we played quite well against Bolton and the game was completely turned by an awful, awful decision by the 'linesman' (I use that term loosely as he was inept IMO). Bolton are one of the toughest teams in the league to beat at their place when they go a goal up, they put 9 or 10 men behind the ball and hoof it forward to a lone striker, which was Anelka on Saturday, who was anonymous. Kevin Davies had a good game though, but a lot of his good work was done in his own half.  They are a hard working team, hard to break down and that decision completely swung the momentum of the game, if that hadn't happened and WE went 1 up we'd probably be 3 pts better off than we find ourselves currently.

All that being said we're not scoring goals (thus not winning games) away from home. We're dominant is possession and create enough chances but we don't do the job. Sheff Utd, Everton, Chelsea and Bolton -1 point from a possible 12, when we could've easily taken the majority of the points on offer.

At Anfield we are fantastic, but away from home is where we need to pick it up if we are going to challenge for the league this season.

murphy i am shocked, we have never crossed swords before and suddenly you become abusive to me for being honest.

dont take this as me having a go at you, but when i was young i would always try to find positives, but when you get older mate, when you mature you will look back and realise how stupid it looks

emptyhead haha, yeah i wont bore you with my education levels. know the person before you criticise, i know zara and i also know her knowledge of football is somewhere between my dog and the toad that lives in my garden, all her posts are the same, she is positive just so people like you dont jump down her throat

Zara's lack off knowledge you say.  LOL this gets even better this debate.  Ohh some mothers do ave em.

This season you say, how long is a season? We are only 7 games in and only six points behind the leaders.  Put to that the fact we have played Chelsea off the park in the charity sheild where they quite clearly played there first 11.  An the fact we were UNLUCKY at Chelsea in the league.  We have had no luck at all thats why I have highlighted the word.

Mediocre and unlucky are two totally different things. Come back at the end off the season and say this plums.

You say when you was young, there you go you have it hit the nail on the head there matey.  You have just stated by saying this that you are officialy A CRYING AULD TW.AT.

ok lets talk about luck. against SU we were lucky to get a penalty, on wednesday night we were lucky that the didnt equalise in injury time, against everton we were lucky that........ that...... that oh i cant think any more about luck

ok, seven games and six points behind the leaders, imagine were we would be if we were not mediocre this season. however angry you are because i am stating facts should not cloud the fact that we are poor away from home. 1 point from 12 is poor or is it like golf now where the lowest score wins?

murphy why the abuse lad, no need for it really, i am not being abusive to you apart from my first reply but you seem to want to carry it on, give it a rest and your posts may be more readable and understandable

Peewee think back mate and you will see what the point is regarding luck.

Against Everton we where unlucky not to have had a penalty, and unlucky against Sheff United that the free kick that elad to their goal was given. The free kick against Bolton after Xabi was unlucky to hit the post should naver have been given.

To say we are mediocre when the squad has only been improved shows a lack of knowledge I would never have acredited to you mate.

Had we been outplayed against anyone this season I would listen to what you have to say, but the fact is the only out played came i nthe form of out-fought for part of the derby.

no mate its really me, i am not disputing our record at home,(even though the spurs game could have been so much different. but our away record is poor mate, nothing anyone can say will make me change my opinion on that

come on if other teams were not dropping points we would be well funked now. the fact that others are dropping points does not change the fact that we have one point away from home which is not good enough.

i know there are factors such as kick off times etc, but the problems are of our own making (even the linesmans mistake did not win that game for bolton. we still had the chance to defend it but failed)

Peewee, I understand the way you feel, but it is too early to make any absolute statements. You say we are "mediocre" like it's an accepted fact. The truth is we are just 7 games into a new PL season and have mostly played pretty well away from home, though the ball hasn't been going in the net. Keep faith a little longer and I guarantee to you that things will turn around.

Time to keep the faith man!

yes we were unlucky in those instances mate but they should not be used as excuses as to why we can not win away from home.

you are right about being outmuscled against everton, but we were also outmuscled against SU.

leonn i am frustrated mate, i watched the game yesterday and i was amazed by how many passes went astray. someone put that down to bolton crowding the midfield, but if the pass is not on dont try and make it, its not rocket science is it? it just seems at the moment too masny people are looking for excuses rather that coming out and saying its not good enough. i keep asking if 1 point from 12 away from is good but no one seems to want to answer that, but at the end of the day its points that matter in the table

That's pretty much right Leon, we're playing a lot of good football but if we don't take our chances we only have ourselves to blame, I'm thinking of the Chelsea game in partcular. I can't complain about the performances most of the time just our inability to win games that are their for the taking.

Spurs at Anfield was similar, we won 3-0 and  bossed most of that game, but at 0-0 allowed Spurs to hit us on the break when no one tracked Davids through the middle and Jenas missed an absolute sitter. We were lucky that we went down the other end and scored, but had Jenas scored then we're steering down the barrel of a home defeat when we had missed a fair few chances up till that point.

listen lets just clear this up, i have not lost faith, i have not said we will not win the league, i have not said 'rafa out'.

i have questioned team selections and pointed out that 1 point from 12 is mediocre, in fact its worse than that, its poor. but some people dont seem willing to accept that the loss of 11 points is a problem

Manure up 2-0 against the Geordies, so they'll go above Chelsea on GD if they win. In other news Super Danny Murphy has put Spurs 1 up against Pompey.

We're talking about the league title, the points gap to Chelsea was mentioned. I believe Manure will go very cloxe to winning the league, therefore i felt the need to mention it... couldn't find a more relevant thread tbh. Danny Murphy is a ex-red so I threw that in there as well.

Calm down! I think my last couple of posts were reasonable contributions to the debate anyway so why you feel the need to be abusive is beyond me.
