Above all, I would like to be remembered as a man who was selfless,
who strove and worried so that others could share the glory, and who
built up a family of people who could hold their heads up high and
say, 'We're Liverpool'.” - Shankly
"we were a family club. There was no ‘them and us’ attitude, it was just ‘us’. "-Kenny Daglish

From what I've read, he seems to be a real character.

Like that no nonsense grandfather who had wit as sharp as a knife, and a fantastic humour go with it.

I can see why he is loved.

R.I.P Bill Shankly. From a fan all the way across the pond.

R.I.P Shanks,a true legend. :bowdown

I never tire of listening or reading some of his famous quotes, this is one of my favourites:

In a pay-at-the turnstile era when anyone could take a bottle of into the ground, Celtic had brought 10,000 fans, an army to rank with the Spion Kop in terms of noise and ardour for their team. They’d felt they should have had a penalty at the death (which would have brought the teams level) and let their disgust be known in the form of hundreds and thousands of bottles hurled from the Anfield Road End onto the pitch.

Shankly turned to Stein and said: “Do you want your share of the gate money, Jock? Or will you just return the empties?”

Here's a few more:

'The difference between Everton and the Queen Mary is that Everton carry more passengers!'

'I always look in the Sunday paper to see where Everton are in the league – starting, of course, from the bottom up.'

Radio Merseyside reporter to Shankly: 'Mr Shankly, why is it that your teams' unbeaten run has suddenly ended?' Shanks replied: 'Why don't you go and jump in the lake?'

To a translator, when being surrounded by gesticulating Italian journalists - 'Just tell them I completely disagree with everything they say!'

On hearing a rival manager was unwell: 'I know what's wrong - he's got a bad side!'

The creator of Liverpool Football Club as we all know it.

He dug the hole, he laid the foundations, he built the house.

Paisley decorated, and Rafa is continuing the dynasty by renovating and doing the garden.

The words "You'll Never Walk Alone" were never more poignant.

Bill Shankly - A true legend.

Hi Liverpool fans,

First of all, I apologize for this message being put in this topic. But I can't start a new one (unless I have 25 messages), and I don't have a lot of time.... .

I'm writing you concerning a important mission. One of my best friends died Tuesday, 26th of September 2006, due to a car accident. Only 21 years old...There aren't any words in this world that could describe our pain. This Wednesday is the day that we say goodbye to him.

He was a goalkeeper. He lived and breathed football. We used to watch various matches of Liverpool. And every time the fans began with: You never walk alone, we got the shivers.

When he is being carried out of the church, we want to play You Never Walk Alone, with a live version of Liverpool.

My question is: can someone deliver me a mp3 of more than 2 min, with a live registration of the Liverpool crowd? That would be the finishing touch of what's going to be a celebration of his live.

So I'm asking you, from the bottom of my heart, could you please help me out?

Kindest Regards,

Kenneth
