Benitez v mourinho - Do you think we got right guy?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Mourinho already too cocky and arrogant. Between the pair, do you think we got the better guy?

Winning the Champions League was a great achievement but Rafa has worked wonders in a much much tougher league, and without good boardroom support too.

What do you think?

Benitez has no experience of spending big money and he inherited an already world class team at Valencia. He also has no experience of english football. He`s a big gamble.

He was a winner at Valencia who were arguably the best team in europe before he even took over.Liverpool and the premiership will be a massive change for him.

You don't see Hector Cuper's team winning the La Liga title do you? Rafa took that team to two La Liga titles and an UEFA Cup in 3 short seasons and that proof a lot. He's the most successful manager in Valencia's history and they are the current champion in arguably the toughest league around.

Who do you think we should appoint then if we were to play it safe?

I heard a spanish journalist on radio today saying that Benitez was viewed in Spain as a similar manager to Houllier.Im sorry but I find that kind of comment pretty scary :D

You got to admire Mourinho's self-assuredness.

Our old boy, Michael Robinson who knows Spanish football better than any of us combine reckons Benitez will be a success at LFC. That should be a good enough endorsement for me.

Benitez similar to Houller...in which way?

Hold on I thought the english league was ment to be the best in the world.  All of a sudden you get a mananger from spain and it becomes the best league.

You thought the Premiership is the best league in the world, it's your opinion, not mine. I suggest you wake up and smell the coffee and maybe watch a few more games from the Spanish league before making your conclusion. There is no absolute "Best league" in the world.

I don't think the english league is the best in the world. I am only quoting of this board.  The spanish league is far superior  to any league in the world.  The Champions League of the last 4-5 years bears that out

You are so sensitive towards the collective pulse of 'the board'

Not really mate, I just think SG is hugely over rated. He is a very good player, but Liverpool are in terrible shape at the moment.  If you sold SG and got say £30 million you could buy 4 or 5 decent players for that.  Liverpool are obviously strugggling financially, why else would they be willing to sell shares to the Thailand goverment
