You simply can't sack the whole squad based on their presumed lack of passion for the club so lets try and analyse where it went so badly wrong shall we !
Carra made an emotional decision when asked if he was fit cos it was patently obvious he wasn't !!!!! Fowler looks a yard off the pace and did nothing all game. Alonso isn out of form and it showed today !
Rafa has to take some responsibility here. He bought two natural wingers over the summer in Gonnzales and Pennant but started with neither. Pennant had 20 mins when the game was already lost and Gonzales didn't even make the bench ! He also chose to leave out the ideal striker for a difficult away trip in Bellamy who is a downright pest and chases lost causes. I'll bet my mortgage he plays Bellamy on Tuesday when we face a tricky away trip to PSV who like Everton are functional and physical.
Had he started with two NATURAL wingers and left Alonso who is in poor form on the bench then Gerrard and Sissoko in midfield would have been more than enough to cope with the hustle and bustle. Everton are not a good side in terms of ability but they were allowed to look a lot better because LFC didn't pass, dominate midfield or battle with any great conviction.
Despite this we had far the greater chances and a couple of penalty appeals.
I always try to be fair and balanced in my approach whether we win, lose or draw. I suggest some people on here do the same !

of course we all still love the club but some of us can just say it a it is, and you more than most normally say things 'as it is'.
we just didnt seem up for it toay and allowed ourselves to be hassld of the ball too easily

i am also mystified as to why last season rafa talked about width and the need for wingers, and then does not play them. fair enough gonzalez may have been out of his depth yesterday if he played but pennant is used to the premier league and the bustle that can go with it. also alonso needs to spend some time out i think, gerrard back in the middle for the obvious battle that yesterday was going to be. dropping alonso would not be rotation, it would be playing our strongest line up and at the moment alonso is not in that team based on performance.
rotation is a good idea mate but only when its needed, dont do it just to show that you have the squad to do it, dont save players for the next game, the most important game is the game that you have on the day and should ALWAYS play your strongest team and get the points.
peewee wrote:i dont the sauce is the problem mate, i just dont think rafa can fit him in while he persisits with gerrad, momo and alonso. i think our strongest team at the moment would be minus alonso, and gerrard and momo in the middle with pennant on the right. also we lacked any pace yesterday up front so i agree with you on fowler, as much as i love him, i think i would rather have seen bellamy yesterday.
the last couple of seasons now we havent hit the ground running, i know the league is a marathon but recently its been more of a sprint and we cant afford to drop silly points.
the players dont seem confident in their own ability at the moment, yesterday i saw too many balls played long straight to a blue shirt, i saw too many blue shirts get to the ball first, i saw too many blue shirts harrying red shirts but not the other way round.
this has happen before and it was only when rafa started putting out a regular line up that we gelled and started to play football. stop the uneccesary rotation rafa and use the squad when you have to

To be fair, though, with the possible exception of Fowler, that WAS our strongest line up.
Alonso didn't play well by his own standards, but the best way for a player to recover form is to play, albeit perhaps not in a derby.
I think there may be more than meets the eye with Pennant. I wonder if he's staying off the sauce.
