EVERTON VS LIVERPOOL - Countdown to the woodison derby

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ciggy » Sat Sep 09, 2006 11:03 am

I suppose no one can guess rafa's team but here goes

                               Reina
Finnan        Carra/if fit, Agger,  Hyypia,  Riise if fit/Warnock

Gerrard            Sissoko         Zenden      Aurelio

                       Fowler         Kuyt

Bench: Dudek, Garcia, Alonso, Crouch, and what ever defender doesnt start.

Probably way off the mark like

:D

The Dogs of Wars Team:

Everton boss David Moyes has given Tony Hibbert his first start of the season for the 204th Merseyside derby.

Joleon Lescott partners Joseph Yobo in defence, with Gary Naysmith filling in at left-back.

The Blues will start with a five man midfield, with Phil Neville returning to the centre of the park to provide added steel alongside Lee Carsley.

Tim Cahill and Leon Osman will provide midfield support for lone striker Andy Johnson, with the Blues utilising the same formation that produced such a memorable performance at Tottenham Hotspur a fortnight ago.

It is a first taste of a Merseyside derby for summer signings Lescott, Johnson and goalkeeper Tim Howard.

The Blues substitutes are Richard Wright, Andy van der Meyde, James Beattie, Nuno Valente and David Weir.

Not too bad a starting line up although I did not exactly expect Fowler to start. Maybe Bellamy in place of Fowler, but knowing Fowler's pedigree, I wouldn't bet against him scoring.
