Gerrard has only just turned 24, is a future England captain and probabaly has another 8 years at the top.  Our team should be built around him for the rest of the decade.  You heard Fergie raving about him last week.  If we let Gerrard go to Chelsea we'd be admitting that we're not a top level team anymore and just another Tottenham willing to sell on our top players to the highest bidder.

I would rather keep the player than topping up the club's bank balance but money is money and £50M is a lot of them!

Not rumor but just some food for thought.

so what if they did? what can i do ?
what do you expect me to do?

Gerrard is possibly the best midfielder in europe but at the end of the day he is a commodity. If we got 30million plus two world class players like Duff and Makele then we should take it.Duff is the best winger in the world and would win us the league, and Makele would be a decent replacement for Stevie. No player is irreplaceable.I remember thinking we would never replace Kevin Keegan, until Kenny Dalglish came along.

The Liverpool team of the 70's was full of top class players and didn't depend on Keegan like we do now with Gerrard.  Also, Keegan announced 12 months prior to his departure that he wanted to try his luck abroad so that gave Bob Paisley time to find a replacement.
I can't ever recall Liverpool deliberately selling one of our best players in order to make money.  It's a road I don't want us to go down.

you'd think guys: was it the glory that made the players top class or the top class players who made the glory?  :)

is it (says) ljungberg who made arsenal glorious
or arsenal that made ljungberd top class?

I heard the rumours that the World Transfer Record is about to be broken, now it wouldn't be hard which will be buying (Chelsea) but I think it is Ronaldinho will be on way to Chelsea for more than 50m!!!! Fecking madness!!!

wouldn't surprise me one bit. chelsea can buy whoever they want but it still won't guarantee success. he would fit into mourihno's preferred system aswell (like deco at porto).

i will have a bet now with someone on here that we finish above chelsea next season. anyone want to back me up? ???
