there is no doubt in my mind we'll miss hamann. last season i LOVED the fact we had Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko & Hamann
to select from for the centre midfield. not very convinced as of yet about zenden's role in the centre of midfield.
he doesnt seem to provide anything attacking or defensive wise imo. he seems to just be....THERE!
correct me if i'm wrong.

Agreed passmeistro. To me Zenden in central midfield sticks out like a sore thumb. Even if we did sell Hamann we should've at least found a replacement (maybe Michael Carrick for 18 million eh?). Maybe we'll get another defense midfield player in January. I hope so anyway.

The squad we have at the moment is probably the best we have had for God knows how long. I feel certain that come christmas, we will be up there pushing Chelsea, Man u and Arsenal.

I agree with this view entirely. My own opinion is that if we can be brave enough and believe in our own potential then the sky is the limit for this squad.

Like Cigg's said in her excellent original post, this is the Rafalution season three and this is the biggest hurdle of all to overcome in my opinion. The belief is that when you go to places like Sheffield United (No I still haven't got over the fact that we didn't win there    :) ) you go there and treat it like a goal difference job. You rip them up for erse paper from the first whistle and let them know they haven't got the right to be on the same pitch as you.

Everton should be the only team of their ilk who are able to seriously worry us purely because of the derby factor, all other similar teams should be approached with the intention of a resounding win, Home or Away.

If we can get this winning mentality, then it is my opinion then the title will be a possibility at the very least this season.

Weve only played two league games so its still early days as far as Im concerned.  We shouldnt approach next week by putting pressure on ourselves. Of course three wins would be great but I would be happy with two draws and a win the win being Everton.

Everton local derby nuff said

PSV aim for a draw and a controlling performance with a win a bonus if we play well enough

Chelsea as above to be honest.

The Mancs will probably get some points but they have had a good start.  We need a little run after the Chelsea game to be realistic although I will be flying if we win all three

IMO all we need to do this season is get good results against the chavs and the mancs and we should be right up there fighting for the title. Last season we got very few points from the teams around us and thats what cost us the title. With the new additions to the squad this year, especially the wide men, we have a very good chance of bringing the holy grail back to where it belongs. :nod  :nod  :nod
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.
