My opinion is that Joe cole is an enigma.
He is one of those players that, whilst at a young age was head and shoulders above eveyone around him. His school friends, sunday league team mates and the like. At that age he was able to fool the other immature peers with the flicks, stepovers and the like.
His problem now is he has now come up against older wiser and although maybe not as tactically good, these players he opposes now are wise to the flicks and stuff. They can not be beaten by the childish tactics he employs. He relies on them too much.
Cole needs to adapt his game, and stop relying on the flicks and showboating and develop the other side of his game. A good coach could make him a better player.
I would take him over Hargreaves as the potential to become a great player is bigger.
