I watched echo and the bunnymen on Saturday and you can see the influence for the roses.  The mancs have had some greats of course but it was the merseybeat that dominated then becoming more of a two way exchange later on.

The Beatles are the most famous group to come from Liverpool and the UK. I dont think anyone will be as famous at them. But a lot of good music has come outta Ireland as a whole....... U2 being the most Famous.
From the 70's onwards we had people like.........
Joe Dolan
Rory Gallagher
Christie Moore
Johnny Rotten (I did'nt know he was Irish)
The Undertones
The Boomtown Rats
Dana
Sinead O'Connor
Brian Kennedy
Peter Corry
Mary Black
Enya
Divine Comedy
Boyzone
The Corrs
Bewitched
Ash
Snow Patrol
Westlife
Ghost of an American Airman
These are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head. I think the Beatles has been and still is the biggest influence of these groups and long may it last.

WTF  :O

The Undertones were those twits who sang "Teenage Kicks" probably the worst song I've ever heard, they're a poor excuse of a band.

U2 were great until Bono changed his name to bonehead and started being an arrogant :censored:, he's worse than both Ian Brown and Morrissey and he's the biggest hypocrite along with Geldoff. On the side not U2 have become too commericalised and as a result their music has suffered and is poor.

Boyzone and any other manufactured artists should all be lined up against a wall and shot, at least Boyzone wrote their own material, have West Life actually released a song which is their own or are they all cover versions?

Snow Patrol were decent a while ago, had a few good songs, but they are no where near as good as Keane.

The only decent music to come out of Ireland is Irish folk, apart from that most of it's been poor excuse of music, without no message behind the music and no meaning.

But each to their own and all that.
