An embarrassing result ?

Listen sunshine, there are no easy games in the premiership, you obviously take certain games for granted and expect us to roll teams over week in week out. But to say that was an embarrassing result is nothing short of arrogance on your part.
Like I said in another thread, I dont think Sheffield United are going to be the whipping boys everyone thinks they are, especially at Brammal lane.

I never said teams were going to be easy, but every Liverpool fan from Alaska to Hong Kong was stating how we are going to be title contenders and title contenders win most of their matches, especially against the likes of Fulham, Charlton and Sheff Utd, etc.

For a club of Liverpool's size and stature, it's indeed an embarrassing result, especially when you've got United, who don't have much depth in their squad and haven't replaced the likes of Keane or Nistlerooy are hammering Fulham 5-1 and beating Charlton 3-0. I think I have a right to be rather disappointed, embarrassed and annoyed with the result.

Annoyed yes, embarrassed no.

And I'm sure all Chelsea fans from Kings road to Sloane square were stating how they were going to be title favourites and win most of there matches. Ahh ...... but they've already lost to Boro.

That's your outlook on it, it's not mine, so don't speak for me.  :;):

Why do you have bring Chelsea into it? What has our bitterly disappointing result go to do with Chelsea? Nothing, that's what, why don't you forget about Chelsea for all of five minutes and concentrate on your own team; which judging by the messageboard is Liverpool. Let Chelsea lose to Boro, let Arsenal and United drop points, I don't care about any of those clubs, just the one I support and that's Liverpool. I want Liverpool to go out and beat teams week in week out, I don't want to see Sheff Utd 1-1 Liverpool, I want to see Sheff Utd 0-2 Liverpool.

Am I a bad supporter for being embarrassed, disappointed and annoyed with the result? No, I don't think I am, I'd call that caring wouldn't you? Think what you like but a club that bounces back from 3-0 down against a great team in AC Milan finds themselves on level pegging with Sheff Utd isn't exactly great is it? However I have given full credit to Sheff Utd for getting the draw and in actual fact they should of won, but we had our a.rse saved by the ref. I'd call that an embarrassing result.

Get used to bad results sunshine because there will be a few more before the end of the season.

Don't patronise me, I know there will be bad results along the way, it doesn't mean I have to like it does it?

LOL @ patronise, do you honestly think any of us like poor results?
Anyway back to topic.

Well judging by all the sunshiners in the Sheff Utd thread, saying it was a decent result to come away with a point, I'd say yes.

Yes, lets get back to the topic, you can blame S@int for not being able to read and taking things out of context.  :no

I expect a 1-0 win to us today. What's the news on the injury front?

Mate I wont bother to try and speak for you, after all your the chap who doesnt lose any sleep if we lose, it doesnt bother you does it ? I remember what you said, or something along those lines.

But like a true hypocryite (sp) your one of the loudest and most outraged to the point of embarrasement when we fail to beat a team like Sheffield United.

WTF  ???

Why bring Chelsea into it, well they are the team we have to knock off the top. I'm hardly going to compare our results with Sheffield United (sarcasm) am I. When they lose we need to look to capitalise, as much as I concertrate on my own team I still keep an eye on there results too. Whats wrong with that, I doubt there isnt any supporter on here who isnt curious on matchday to see how United, Arsenal and Chelsea faired up.

And because we came from three nil down at half-time against AC and won . Do you really expect us to beat every team with less stature than AC from here onwards  your living in dreamland mate if you think that. Thats football, I'd even go as far as to say one day we'll get scalped by a lower league team in a cup match. What will your reaction be then, to jump ship, start a ' lets sack Rafa campaign'.
The mind boggles it truely does.

You're correct, I don't lose sleep over Liverpool losing, but just becasue I don't starting crying into my pillow when Liverpool lose or get smashed off my head till the point of spending the night in hospital getting my stomach pumped doesn't mean I don't care. Liverpool will mean different things to different people, just because it might be your life doesn't mean it has to mean the same to me, I don't think I'm any less of a fan for thinking otherwise. I've explained this to LFC#1 in an old thread, so I won't continue.

Its hypocrite, I will voice my opinion if I don't like something, that's the whole point of a messageboard. You might be happy to draw 1-1 with Sheff Utd, that's fine, but I'm not. Again there is nothing wrong with this.

You can indeed focus on Chelsea's results, I do too, but you came across in your previous post as someone who was saying "well look we drew with Sheff Utd, Chelsea lost to Boro, so it's not all bad". I tend not to concentrate on any other team, other than my own, I will indeed look out for other team results, but I don't think "I hope Chelsea drop points", I focus on Liverpool gaining points.

No, I don't expect us to beat every team with a lesser stature than AC Milan, but I expect to see the same fight from Liverpool in every match, there is no point showing that fight in one match and then not bothering to show it in any other.

If we lost to a lower league team, I would indeed be disappointed, but no I wouldn't start a "sack Rafa campaign". I would of done that against Burnley, had that been the case.

Rafa has a number of injuries but we can still put a good side, it is a testament to the squad building he has done since he has arrived. I liked the way we played against Hafia and it looked a well balanced side, the team bellow is also well balance but I would like the wingers to get more involved, especially Pennent who needs to tuck in when the ball is on the other side. Gerrard gets the opportunity to play in the position he most enjoys, and Aurellio can further stake a claim as our best left back.

Injury list:

John Arne Riise
Harry Kewell
Momo Sissoko
Jamie Carragher
Stephen Warnock
Gabriel Paletta

                  Reina

Finnan    Hyypia    Agger    Aurellio

Pennant  Gerrard   Alonso   Gonzalez

              Crouch    Bellamy

Subs

Kuyt
Garcia
Zenden
Kromkamp
Dudek

P.S. I have reversed by previous opinion that Kuyt should come in for Crouch, that was just me getting a bit excited and wanting to see him play in a LFC shirt, Crouch should start.

I think that team will be the one that starts, and your right about Pennant, I would like to see him getting down the touchline more often, he wasnt really involved against Haifa, but that one cross made the goal.
He must do this more often.
Will be a great day today, there is a mosiac on the kop for the 100 year anniversary and its flag day should be great hope the result is great also.

In relation to Pennant, the problem is that he relies too much on getting down the touchline. Stepping infield 10 yards in order to either drag the left back out of position or to find space to receive the ball is something he doesn’t do. And especially when the ball in on the left wing he must learn to step infield and sometimes get into the box, right now all he does is stay on the right wing and wait for the ball, I know it is early but he going to have to add these things to his game, because at the moment he believes simply hugging the touchline is his job, maybe at Birmingham, but much more is expected at Liverpool.
