I agree.. what we need is mick mcarthy  :D

If we can't afford Mcarthy, I'm sure Steve Bruce can guide us to Premiership glory he's a tactical genius.

we played under par, that's fine, we dropped two points, not a big problem, it's only a 1/38 games. but what worry me the most is; vs mainz-haifa; cheatksi; sheffield, is an old pattern of jeckyll and hyde that we should have gotten rid of if we'd like to be a more serious candidate (which is pretty realistic expectation this season).

We played :censored: today ... To many 2nd Teamers and New commers having to bond with each other for us to play well!

We badly missed Alonso in midfield .. Zenden lost possesion that many times today, Yeah it was unfortunate with the injuries but these are the games we need to be taking 3 points if we want to win the Premiership!

U think Chelsea would draw at the lane? I very much doubt it! I know we have a important Champions league match mid-week but Rafa has to realise teams like Sheff-Utd are not just gonna lay down for us , So he should always use his strongest side!

Even without crouch as it is today, it was so ineffective. i believe we should have never play zenden + sissoko together, play Alonso, and Pennant at the start. Pass the ball to Alonso and let him spread it to the wing. I think when we play fowler/bellamy, we should do short passings instead than lobbing. Aurelio is overused and i think warnock will do a better job, he caused the goal, he wasnt even marking at all, holy, he's slower than JAR and he cant tackle, how can benitez use him as left back when he is not solid there? Its a pity that Carra and Riise got injuired.

Well I haven't seen the game--just finished watching Arsenal drop two points at home to Aston Villa though--amazing they didn't win given the pressure thay had. A point about new stadiums occurred to me while I was watching. The new Emirates Stadium seemed foreign to both teams and if Liverpool does do a swap to a new ground then they should accept that they'll probably drop a lot of home points while getting used to it. ManU won though and I expect Chelsea to win tomorrow.

Back to Liverpool and today's game. We seem to have gone full circle with most supporters demanding Rafa decide what his best team is and play it. Of course, all the new signings were supposed to make this unnecessary as individuals fitted into a well oiled machine. Unfortunately, Rafa still underestimates the Sheffield United's of this world. Some of the new signings apparently played like ponces and didn't want to get stuck in (or maybe couldn't) against hard tackling opponents who didn't give them a chance on the ball. Personally, I believe that Rafa would do better to decide on his best 15 or so players and only use the others when necessary. Ocassionally (like today) he does make things too cerebral and can get caught out by an outfit that has a 100% attitude of commitment. The first thing is to get the defense back together that was so successful last season. I feel that if he keeps tinkering with this we'll all be sorry. Aurelio and Kromkamp are not up to it at present.

Final thought: we have Maccabi coming up and if they win we're out of the CL. I think we'll be OK--but how can we be sure against a team that beat ManU 3-0 once in the CL, if we've got Kromkamp and Aurelio running around like headless chickens in defense?

It's a poor start, but it's not disastrous.

If nothing else, it's a wake up call. I still think that resting Alonso was justified, but I was very surprised by the 11 Rafa put out today. To be honest, I think after some of the games we dropped points in last season, it's a lesson we didn't really need to learn.

It was always going to be a tough game away from home on the first day against a newly promoted side who were gonna be well up for it.

It didtn help with Risse getting injured and I think for Aurelio and Gonzales it was a real welcome to the Premiership.

It could have been worse as look at Arsenal drawing at home.

Why Kromkamp started i dont know and I dont even know whats wrong with Alonso and Garcia. To be honest i was hammered by 11 anyway so didnt pay much attention to the pre match build up

:D

Do the our players, that were at the WC still seem a little lathergic?

We started slow and only went about our business when they scored.  We need to play a little higher tempo from the off.

SU is not an easy place to win, but this is only our first game so no need to worry or push the panic button. Things are going to improve without a doubt.
