Not an easy choice which is a good thing. My choice would be.

Finnan Carragher Agger Riise

Pennant Gerrard Sissoko Zenden

Crouch Bellamy

I chose Agger ahead of Hyppia because I think its a good idea to get him used to playing alongside Carragher and its better in this game than playing Arsenal or a team like that.
Also Zenden on the left because he will work hard and get crosses in. I haven't seen enough of Gonzales/Aurelio to make a decision. but I'd probably bring one of them on later.

this could be a tricky game, remember wigan Vs chelsea last season?
i do expect us to win this game, not as comfortable as some expect though. i predict a 3-1 win,

i expect gerrard to be brought on later on in the game. i just have the feeling he wont start.

As Spain dont have a midweek match I would play Alonso hopefully playing him into form. I would also give Gonzales another go. I just hope we play 4-4-2

I'll be inclined to leave Alonso out of the side for this match becuase one, I don't think his fitness levels is up with the rest of the team yet, two, he's not been performing lately. I'd also like to see Agger make a step up and be Hyypia's long term replacement. Moreover, we can afford to be less competitive in midfield when playing against weaker opposition, but of course, this is not a sign of disrespect for Sheff Utd.

One thing is certain - we won't be winning anything if Zenden in on the wing.

mmmm...tough one... i'd fo for a 4-5-1 with Bellamy as a second striker, goes something like this .
First game of the season is always hard so i wouldnt start with Gerrard and Sissoko alone in central midfield... i know this is our 3rd competetive mmatch already but its better if we play it safe and make sure we get the 3 points. Alonso is not playing at midweek and should be in full training everyday until we kick off so.... should be ready and raring to go ! i'd start him if he was ready...if not, i'd start Zenden... simple as that !

What a sh1tty time to play midweek international games, when the prem starts a few days later :angry:

Plus we have to go to Kiev on monday, Rafa will probably rest some players on saturday with one eye on our CL qualifier next week.
I hate SU and they could prove to be a very tricky opener anyone thinking it will be a walk in the park is deluded, Warnock will have that lot fired up and they will try and boot us off the park.
