I was at the match, got on the tele and I even get to eat a bit off humble pie aswell. Its all good mate.

But lets face it if Peter Chec would off been playing it wouldnt off went in. Thank god he werent playing. As I think that wud off spoilt me day a wee bit. LOL

I still stand by what ive said in this thread and im glad other people have noticed these things about Riise. Do you think I want Riise to play badly?

Xabi Alonso, wasnt shockingly bad but werent up to his normal high standards.

my sumer holidays dont end as i have left school

and i can spell and type normally but i choose not to i use slang because its quicker to type . and as i have msn i use it on that so its easier to type. from now on i will speek properly so all you can understand everything that i am saying .

Cause he scored a good goal???

No one including Murph ever said anything personal about Riise!And to say he's a w.anker is wrong.What the original post stated still stands and is factual to anyone that has a reasonable appreciation of football!
Of course we are all grateful to Riise for that goal...but the season has not started yet !

Over the long season ahead,it is a fact that Riise will have more stinkers where he merely goes amiss and is a shadow of the player that scored that goal!
I wish i was wrong but its true!
Unfortunately 2 or 3 wonder goals a season do not compensate for a lack of consistancy and to many poor to mediocre performances!!

Bit harsh!

Riise has been used as an attacking full back in recent years, and of course he might not have such a huge impact on games as he might have in the past.

But he has a defensive job to do and he sticks to it, consistantly! To call that mediocre, is very harsh Bazza. Sure that game against Haifa was terrible by everyones standards, but to call the guy shiite is a disgrace and a w.@nker of a comment, and I stick to that!

Im not talking just about the Haifa game or today!!

I mean over the season,his consistancy or lack of it should i say!

Im delighted with his goal today and being honest like every fan i would love him to play great every time he pulls on the shirt!
But watching every game i can over the season i just feel theres too many i say 'where was Riise today' when he's been on the park for 90 mins!!

But then again thats just my opinion!

Barry i have a question for you, how many goals did we concede last season as a result of a mistake from Riise ?
I dont know the answer, but tbh i cant really think of any.
He may cause us a few twitchy moments when someone is running at him one on one, but he doesnt give up and i dont recall us being punished down that side very often.
He is steady and pops up with imortant goals, for me anyone who is criticising him is nitpicking.

No, as we all hope that all our players give 110% at all times.

My issue is you saying he's shiite, which is a very harsh criticism. Your original comment was that you lost count how many times he has fckuked up on the pitch and that he only shows glimpses of greatness.

That is incorrect and a very stupid comment.

Its times when he is quiet and doesn't have much influence on the game where it is noticable and you question where he is. But if the opposition aint scoring from the left flank, you know that it is because Riise is doing what he has been told to do.

With Gonzo in the frey, get used to seeing Riise in the back 4 on a consistant basis this term, and hope to God that he doesn't help conceed goals, but don't go on calling the fella shiite, after all, he's not Diouf!

no affence but this is mostly rubbish. sorry lads. riise is a great player any defender who can get up the pitch and score goals is fine by my book. hes like another attacker. he can realy hit the ball to which is useful in freekicks. look how mnay times he has come good when we needed it. twice he has scored important goals against chelsea in just 1 year. and you are trying to say he is ok. hes quality i hope liverpool dont sell him specialy not to chelsea. ya dont sell players like riise to your biggest rivals. thats just silly.
