How do you know Stevie went to the papers? For well we know the NOTW could of written the article and made out it was an exclusive. However if Gerrard has gone to that paper to promote his book then he should be rather ashamed.

being from liverpool and my dad being feet away from the incident, i no the pain which came with the devestating aftermath of hillsborough, however after everythin gerrard has done for this club - won us the champions league and fa cup, sticking with his heart to not move to chelsea and staying loyal to liverpool, this post is a disgrace to a great man. he would never do a thing to hurt anyone from this city, i hope ur all ashamed.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm  ???

I'm a survivor from Hillsborough by the grace of God.

So my question for you is this .....should I feel ashamed that a person who represents the club I nearly died supporting chooses to offer extracts from his "Book" to the sister paper of the S*n  ???

P.S. I don't care if Stevie G single handidly wins us the treble this season, brings about peace in the middle East and ends world poverty this doesn't give him the right to offer his story to the NOTW or the S*n !  :eyebrow

To many people wearing plastic hearts on their sleeves .

As XSD pointed out
"Rupert Murdoch owns 175 newspapers, and sky and fox. You can't just boycott everything out there because of the article in the sun, I know most people here watch football games on sky often. I would never read the sun but I would read the times and I would watch sky. "

So what are all you people castigating Gerrard gonna do now ? Cancel your sky subscriptions ? Somehow I doubt it .By all means continue to use the Sun only to wipe your a'rse with but ffs get off the bandwagon ,fake passion and crocodile tears mean f'uck all .

I'm surprised at you Woof Woof ???

This isn't about "Fake passion and crocodile tears" (Your words, not mine) it's about doing the right thing for once and having a  touch of common sense when it comes to these matters !

Is Stevie G so strapped for cash that he has to take the best offer the media can give him for his book ? I doubt it somehow !

Dalglish , I've sent you a pm on this , my comments on fake passion etc are not aimed at the friends ,family and survivours of that day . How could it be ?  .

There are however a lot of people who find it fashionable to join in the chorus without knowing the song.

I've got no time for them .

I appreciate the PM Woof Woof as I have no desire to have a personal spat with anybody on here , least of all yourself....

I think I hear what your saying and appreciate the clarification.

I still maintain it's unwise for any LFC player to associate themselves with certain newspapers and although someone has already mentioned Murdoch has 175 newspapers , he only owns THREE in England !

P.S. I don't have SKY either :D

lets face it footballers today care only for money, pure and simple, what gets my goat the most is :censored: ex- footballers whining on that its a short career

well :censored: me i have to work till im 65 but footballers think the retirement age is 35

and to think on my way home tonight i heard the gerrard interview on radio where he talks about being a liverpool fan and how proud he was to pull on the shirt for the first time

shame on you Gerrard and i hope that extra few grand makes you happy.

STEVEN GERRARD EXCLUSIVE

His every move on the pitch has been scrutinised by fans and players alike - but Steven Gerrard has shied away from telling his own story in public UNTIL NOW.

For the first time, the star lifts the lid on life, love, Liverpool and England.

He lays bare the suffering that accompanied his meteoric rise to become one of the world's best players.

He blasts the false drug accusations which have plagued his career.

He tells of the personal heartache that followed the Hillsborough disaster.

He tells how close he really came to signing for Chelsea - but why he could never turn his back on the Kop.

And he gives his own damning verdict on why England failed to bring home the World Cup.

Read the first half of our sensational two-part serialisation of the football legend's explosive autobiography.

Only in the News of the World - THIS SUNDAY.

I just heard the advertisement for this article on the radio and couldnt believe it.
I am shocked that the lad could do an article in either of them so called newspapers.
I just nearly ended up arguin with the missus when i started kicking off, i had to explain what the NOTW and s@n printed and how no apology was ever made.
I dont care what people say about him being wrongly advised, the lad knows the fans and families feelings towards these rags and has still taken the money.
A major mistake that he should be embarrassed and ashamed about.

I've been quite dismayed by the rush of some people on here and other forums to condemn stevie without knowing the full facts. I am in no way going to condone the lad if he has allowed his book to be serialised in a rag that is associated with the scum without first consulting the HJC. However we don't know whether he has:
a:)Not consulted the HJC and not donated any of the proceeds from the sale of the rights.
b:)Had any say in who serialsed the book. The publishers will own the copyright to the book I imagine and they will have just included a serialisation payment in his book deal (I have no idea how these things work so these are just guesses).

I am not being a fan who is burying his head in the sand over this trying to defend stevie g, i just believe that we need to let him have his say on why his story is in that rag. If he has just sold the rights to the highest bidder then knowing how strong the feelings are on merseyside towards the s*n then i believe that stevie will have damaged his reputation with the fans.
