Regarding tonights game I think it was embarrasing. We should never of struggled against this side. They may have some good scalps in their past but we shouldn't of had to wait till the last minute to win the game.

I'm not saying this because he scored but Mark Gonzalez should of started. He is better than Zenden and with him, Pennant, Bellamy and Stevie Gerrard running at any defence you would fancy our chances. 4 players all with good pace and the ability to assist or score.

If we play like that in the league we are not going to win the league. May be our first game back competetively but Arsenal didn't seem to struggle and that was without Henry and they were away. So we need to pull our socks up and Rafa needs to play Crouch and Bellamy together if that is his first choice forward line.

Oh and if anyone can answer I would be very happy. How do you get your own avatars and those long signature things.

Mark Gonzalez had picked up a knock on his calf and that is why he did not start the match. Obviously fit enough to make the bench but not start the game. Understandbly he wasn't risked at this early stage of the season.

If we play like that in the league we are not going to win the league

Who says that we are going to win the league? The aim is to challenge for the title, whether we win it or not will depend on various things through out the season.

Cup games are one offs where as in the season it's a marathon not a sprint.

May be our first game back competetively but Arsenal didn't seem to struggle and that was without Henry and they were away

Their players played in more friendlies than our senior starters did. Dinamo gave them a couple of scares in the first half.

Worry about us not Arsenal, I fail to see what Arsenal have to do with Liverpool Football Club.

So we need to pull our socks up and Rafa needs to play Crouch and Bellamy together if that is his first choice forward line.

If you had a clue, you would had known that our players have gone under intense pre-season training [2-3 training sessions a day, more intense than before] thus players have been a bit more tired. It's similar to what Chelsea have done in their training in the states.

On matchdays of our friendlies, we had 2 training sessions which is something we didn't do before.

-----------------------------------------------

With that being said, we did ok in our first game of the season. Obviously it's understandable that we lacked a bit of sharpness and fitness through out the game but having said that, it was a decent result.

Good result under the circumstances. For all those people saying last would be different than the pre-season performances, think that still?

I'm happy that at times we played like we can. Pennant on the right was a definite positive from the game, as was Sissoko who is more and more becoming the new Vieira.

What I can understand is how Hyypia was so slow and short of sharpness, he's had more training than most therefore should be the fitter. Worrying. He was the fault for the goal. I think this season Rafa should start to replace Hyypia with the likes of Agger or Paletta, as much as he has been a great servant to the club - I think his guaranteed first team place is slipping away.

The good think for us is we have historically done well away from home in these CL qualifiers so lets hope it continues.

The positives far out weigh the negatives last night. 2 debut goals a great performance from Pennant and Sissoko looked excellent. On the negative side Bellamy was wondering round a bit too much for my liking but against these teams who get plenty behind the ball i think he was trying to get into some space. A bit of a nervous start to the season but hopefully we can get it out of the way before the Prem starts.

Any one got any clips of the goals?

Disagree. If gonzales hadn't of scored would you still be raving?

Liverpool played sh!te last night. Yeah there we're some flashes of good play but overall we we're static, resigned to passing it between the back four everytime we we're blocked out.

I agree that Pennant was one of the few that impressed, but as a team we'll get nowhere if we don't kick ourselves up the @rse and start playing.

The strangest thing is that the players with the most rest this summer looked the most off form. Hyypia, Riise and Finnan looked knackered and off the pace.

i spent the night in hospital last night, luckily the hospitals in  bangkok are private so it was more like a hotel, you can even order kfc or pizza hit   :D

anyway i asked the nurse to wake me at 2am and as i had a private room i could watch the game, i wish i had stayed asleep.

i dont profess to knowing as much as rafa but when i saw the line up with one forward i knew what we were in for, a struggle.

we were playing against the best team from a poor league and in my opinion we gave them a chance to win last night  by being negative

i would just wish rafa will opt for 442 everytime, i think we couldnt pass around yesterday was because the back 4 lack targets to pass to, add crouch in, i think it would have made a hell load of difference

Yeah i would to be honest. This was the first real game for a few of them and they did well. We were easily the better team but just couldn't get the second goal until the last minute. Doesn't mean we were :censored: though. If it was 1-1 yeah i would have found positives from both Pennants and Bellamy's games. If it finished 1-1 the only thing i wouldn't be able to take a positive from would be Gonzalez performance cos he only had 5 mins on the park. In reality though he got the winner so yeah i'll take that has a positive.

IMO Rafa wasted the pre-season playing the youngsters too much and the effects are showing. The world cup cannot be an excuse either becuase the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd we're winning against tougher opposition.

Nothing can be done now but I don't think you'll see us at our best till around the end of August. Luckily our first two games are Sheffiled Utd and West Ham, not easy but at least they are top 4 opposition

Are you a parrot Myblood? OK, your team is not easy to defeat--congratulations! But do you think you will ever win 5 European Cups? In the end we still beat you in spite of lots of early season problems. It's worth recalling that Rafa's Valencia beat you 4-0 in Israel after a 0-0 draw in Spain. Why? Because quality counts in the end. At home you couldn't get 10 men behind the ball and gave chances to a quality team.

Hard luck that you have to play at a neutral venue, but any type of draw will suit Liverpool--and I can't see you beating us under any circumstances.
