this is exactly why i argued for the consideration of selling kewell if we got a decent offer for him. as great as he was last season when he played, he still didn't play enough games for me. his injury record is horrific and i can't see him establishing himself in the side this season.

the only stumbling block is that we'd have to sell him abroad. nobody outside the top 4 or 5 teams is going to pay hius £60,000 a week wages.

Saying that septic arthritis is a freak injury and if the reports are to be true he'll only miss two weeks. And as you said last year when fit he played well, if we can keep him fit I still think he has something to offer. I personally rate him over Gonzales, he is the best left sided player we have.

Different players come with different baggage.

Hmm i think the left side is cursed...we seemed to have too many players on that side a few weeks ago but now with kewell, aurelio and gonzalez injured and zenden now a CM, we've only got riise and warnock left at the moment... ah well hopefully we should have gonzalez and aurelio back soon and kewell a bit later so not a huge worry

Im a bit wary of todays match looking at our past record in this round, we make it hard for ourselves, hopefully a comfortable win so we can concentrate on other things. If we do win comfortably then rafa could make a bid for kuyt not long after..

We really have to wait to give a true verdict on that. I have high hopes for Gonzalez and hopefully he could turn out to be the most dazzling left winger we have had since the days of Barnes. No one doubts Harry's ability but he's just not done it. A lack of commitment is his downfall apart from his injuries.

I don't like agreeing here madred, but you are spot on, IMO.

Tonight should be a walk in the park. After seeing what Arsenal kids did last night to the "toughest team" they could have drawn , then we should breeze tonight.

Liverpool 5 Maccabi Haifa 1

BugSniper wrote:SHeMi. Magrashvilli is quite slow indeed, maybe not very but too slow for any of Liverpool's players, and has no real problems with defense. I am amazed that as a fan of maccabi haifa you don't know this.

Some information you need about Maccabi Haifa:

*Tomer Hemed is a big talent and he is sure to enter as a substitue. Make sure you learn well Tomer Hemed and his capabilities.
*Adorm Keisi will open and not Magrashvilli, this is certain.
*Rafel Olara has a very bad head-game. Stick Crouch around him and Maccabi Haifa will optically think Crouch is covered, but he won't be. This should be a very quick 1:0 for you.
*Elen Masudi has a bad head game as well, he is quite small and he can't reach anything. You only need some minor cover on him. However, he is very good is free-kicks and that's why he is in the team.
*Havier Anderson has a very good head game and should be covered well, and the head game of Yaniv Katan is the best in the whole team.

1:Adorm Keisi is injured so he wont play at all.
2:Elen Masudi scores the last year 7 goals with his head.

Going back to the left side Gonzalez/Kewell debate i would still have to stick with Kewell if they were both 100% just because we didn't wait 2 seasons for him to produce some of his best work only then to sell him or leave him on the bench. I mean admittedly i really really hope Gonzalez can produce the type of performances we waited a year to see but so far i cant see it and seeing as Kewell is only gonna miss a couple of games it (with what is a 'freak injury' not his groin or thigh) seems a little silly to rule him out just yet
