Affordable championship players - Who would you buy?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

With the transfer market still open are there any players you would like to see at liverpool, who wouldn't cost too much. The two I would like to see are Giles Barnes from Derby a skillfull and pacy winger similar style to Aaron Lennon and Carlos Edwards from Luton and Trinidad and Tobago. There are some quality players in the lower leagues and I think it would be worth the risk to pay the money for these two (aslong as its not too much). Opinions please.

wasnt that barnes first game?
its too early to say how he`d fare in the prem.
off the top of my head the last time liverpool bought a lower league player that people were getting excited about was mark kennedy, he even looked great for millwall against arsenal in the cup but sadly didnt do much for us.
people had high hopes for danny murphy when he came from crewe too, he used to play just off the striker but when he came here he ended up playing in midfield where he just didnt have the engine or the defensive game to be a top class centre mid player.

I though Murphy was pretty good in 2002/3 he was our best player and i wouldn't object to seeing him back here again.

TBH, their isn't many players/if any in the Championship that would improve our starting eleven.

The only ones I can think of are Gera (West Brom) and Forsell (Birmingham). Dean Whitehead at Sunderland isn't a bad player, but with Momo, Stevie and Xabi ahead of him, he'd only be a fringe player at best.

Yup..

Birmingham had some really good players and Forsell is not an exemption. Why he's comfortable with the fact that he's playing second tier football is beyond me.

Great player. I think he plays like Bellamy, only he's Finnish.

I actually harbored some small desire to see him at the club, at the start of the transfer season. :D I thought seeing as he has a country man in Sami Hyypia he would be one of the names in the forerunning to take the forward position at Anfield, plus Birmingham's relegation I seriously thought he would be the more plausible signings.

Pity he was never linked though.

I've got to disagree about Danny Murphy, Danny Average more like.  Good against United, nothing special otherwise, couldn't see him getting anywhere near the current midfield, and hasn't exactly set the world alight since he left.

Upson is nothing like a good old fashioned centre half, he is not that tall and nowhere near dominant enough in the air.
The type of player you are talking about is someone like big dave (Darren Moore) former west brom...not sure who he is with now, derby i think...he is sh!te like, but thats the kind of player you seemed to describe.

Tommy Miller from Sunderland??? Ive always rated him as a great young player and i think a decent transfer to a bigger club will see him improve massively.

Freddy Eastwood's a good shout St. Micheal.... Saw him a couple of times on Sky last season and he looks like he could make the jump to the Prem'.

Gareth Bale from Southampton, he's banged two in already and he is a left back. Why do Southampton keep bringing in quality youngsters?
