       Pennant        Sissoko      Gerrard            Gonzalez

                          Crouch       Bellamy

The back five picks itself after last season. Kewell and Fowler are injured so probably won't feature. As for Alonso, he's not featured in pre-season so I'd be tempted to bring him off the bench in the second half.

Yeah- i'd go with this although Sissoko and Gerrard swapping places, and the same with Carra and Hyypia.

ideally i'd like to see Alonso in the midfield as well with the two wingers supporting Bellamy upfront for loads of pace and Alonso/Gerrard threading passes through!! Either way, due to our pre-season games i think it's essential we start with Sissoko on the field as he can break a lot of things down and protect the defence.
So a 4-5-1 formation which could easily break to become a 4-3-3 would be my choice! We've now got the pace let's use it!

Mmmm, we haven't been too hot in pre-season and the first 11 haven't really played together since the West Ham game. A frustrating match, but we see a late goal to make it 2-0.

Apparently Gonzales is doubtful with a calf strain

Everyone seems to be assuming we'll play 4-4-2, I'm not sure we will.  If we play 4-2-3-1 we might line up like this.

                                   Riena

                    Finnan Carrager Hypia Rise

                           Sissoko Alonso

                   Bellamy Gerrard Gonzales

                              Crouch

Lots of pace down the flanks.  If the game gets comfortable we might revert to 4-4-2, rest Gerrard and bring Pennant on.

These guys could be difficult to break down, but hopefully they shouldn't give us to much of a problem

If Alonso out we could well go back to 4-4-2

we'll probably see zenden on the left then, even though i don't really class him as a wide player anymore.

Even with indifferent pre-season I still think we will get past quite comfortably at home  2-0
