Del bosque? parry going away?

Does anyone have any views on Del Bosque for a coaching possibility? Although he did have great talent at his feet at Real, he did lead them through a remarkable period which included La Liga and Champions League.. after sitting out of the game for a year and having a thing or two to show Perez and co. dont you believe that he will be motivated to restore us to greatness!!!

Another side issue... if I ran a business and one of my head guys got the boot or left (GH), I would not go on a holiday to the Carribian!!!!!! Parry should have delayed his holiday until we had a new manager.. in the two weeks he is away our new manager could have started to plan for the new season. Once we name our new manager it will be Euro 2004 which will see us only being able to negotiate for the stars of European soccer after 3rd July! ???

All these managers being mentioned have got good track records of success, but i would much rather we plump for a British manager.

For me Martin O'Neill seems a safe bet on success, but i do like what i hear about Benitez.

Whatever happens i don't think whoever takes over will have much trouble improving upon this season and 60 points!

It is logical to go for a British manager who has some Premiership experience because to become a football force, a club like Liverpool needs to be strong domestically first with Europe coming a bit later.

Conquering Europe has become much more difficult as the advent of the Champions' League format has made it into a marathon with the club with the most consistency and staying power, not necessarily the strongest, coming up on top. Nowadays, the teams have to be much more tactically astute, like Porto with a clever coach who can adapt his tactics and players according to the opponents.

British based managers like O'Neill would need less time to adapt to the Premiership but may be found wanting in Europe, wheras Benitez or Maurinho would logically struggle to find their feet in the Premiership initially but should do well in Europe. However, they represent the most intelligent coaches right now and shoud find their feet in most circumstances without too much of an adjustment time.

So, who do we opt for? British or foreign?

Del Bosqe is one hell of a coach given his ability to group together the galaticos with the ego to match to play together and win 2 la ligas and 2 Champions' League but perhaps Liverpool need a more pragmatic foreigner, if that is the route taken, like Benitez or Maurinho or even Ottmt Hizfield.

The unluckiest manager ever sacked?

Vicente Del Bosque

Vicente del Bosque at Real: 55.91%
Alex Ferguson at Man Utd : 56.03%
Arsene Wenger at Arsenal : 56.69%
Bob Paisley at Liverpool     : 56.92%

Only 1 league title isn't that great when he had all that money but it is hard to judge as the chairman seems to decide what players to buy.

Madrid are becoming a joke, just looking for big names as opposed to quality (Becham, Roberto Carlos etc) while selling low profile players like Makele who was class there. A defense wouldn't go astray either.

Real has some fantastic players and I'm sure even Christian Gross could go there and finish in the top three  :p
