Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby dawson99 » Sat Jul 29, 2006 1:25 pm

well things are worse than they were when a big team last visited, but i do see your point.

no doubt justice will prevail and the game will be played somewhere thats fair for both teams and where the fans can enjoy the game :)

Let's put an end to this discussion, obviously no Liverpool fan knows what's up in Israel and I understand why you can not be convinced, considering what your media shows.

Let's all hope Liverpool wins the first game 5-0 and comes with the full squad to Israel to win again.

my main point is that justice can be in 2 situations:
first leg in Anfield, second leg in Ramat-Gan

or

first leg not in England, second leg not in Israel.

Hi, as you see I'm also from haifa. I see this thread has become a mess with political talk. I guess that what happens when someone start to talk about it, it makes others angry and they have to response. I wanted to discuss about football as this thread started, but maybe I try to do a bit order:
more then 3000 years ago the jews lived happily on the holyland. something like 2000 years ago there was an all kind of empires (like greek, rome) that was occupying the region. there was in some of the time big fighting between the jews and the occupyers specially related to jews-the starting christianity, and the holy temple in Jerusalem. in this big fighting there what many jews killed and the other has banished from the country and spreaded in many other countries. 160 years ago with nations starting to have independent state and growing of anti-semiteing the jews had idea to have their own state that they can be independent and not minority in many countries. they choose their historical holyland to be their home land, witch was there a few jews left. after the banished, arabs took the land, maybe with the muslim empire, and also build a holy mosque just in the jews holy city Jerusalem near the western wall (what left from the holy temple). now, after the jews started to come back to Israel 160 y' ago and when starting be treat to the palestinian arab that wanted their own country 80 y' ago. the arabs started to attack the jews, and the jews was just building their houses and didnot have much weapon, but they defend themselves and after also attacking. the fighting has become more complicated and made some changes through the years specially with the established of the state and the arab neighbor countries join to attack and until today we still have fighting specially because of Jerusalem I think.

shyoooo, that for history class folks :rasp :grinning: , I could write more but enough is enough, I hope it will do a lil bit order here. I wanted to speak about football but maybe some other time...  :sleep

goodbye, shalom, and salamat to all...

This argument is never going to end. We Liverpool fans see Israel as too dangeorus a place to travel in the current volatile climate, and obviously the Israelis on here are going to defend their homeland and say that it is safe to play.

Fact is, it's likely that Liverpool will be safe, but it's not really worth taking the risk is it?

I think we're just gong to have to agree to disagree on this everyone, as it's just going round in circles.

Let's just talk about how many goals Liverpool will win the tie by ay?   :D

this threads gone way over the top now...cant it be shut and a new one entitled.. "Liverpool v Maccabi Haifa"  be opened. after all the draw is done now, the 3rd round is a fact. regardless of where or if at all its played...

with all due respect to the situation in the middle-east and ALL its casualties and victims. this football forum cannot be the place to be discussing politics. or trading 'virtual' strikes.
god knows theres enough real ones being fired by the minute.

everyone, let the voices of reason come in and not those of people who are quite obviously under an extreme amount of pressure be argued with. however embittered they are.

football isnt more important than life in the end. and no-one should believe it could possibly ever be so..particularly in the present atmosphere.

unfortunately a compromise is going to have to comeabout. that is UEFA's jurisdiction. they are organised to liase and find solutions to these circumstances. not by 'favouritism' or 'bias' but of necessity.

LFC cant be playing the tie in israel. end of. the only thing we can all do as supporters is hope a viable resolution will be found. that pleases all parties..... god this post in itself sounds like a whitehouse address!..

but my point is clear. stop this nasty bitch-fest now! its doing no good at all to anyone is it?

and lets grab from the jaws of infamy the respect and humour our people are world reknowned for before terrorism scores another victory... :no

Obviously, nobody thinks Maccabi Haifa can beat Liverpool.

In case of trouble, you may want to target Haifa's goalie, Davidovic. He seems to do an awful amount of mistakes in the closing minutes against European teams (Malmö, Rosenborg, Faroe Islands, etc).
