Houllier is no legend. He leaves the club further behind the leaders than any manager in the last fifty years. He never once challenged for the championship and he reckons fourth place was a magnificent achievment. No,not a legend at all.

True.
In years to come he will be just a chapter in the LFC history book.
But lets not be unkind, his first three years where full of promise and we won a few things.End of story time to move on.  :)

I think GH has left this club in a vey helthynsiuation to be honest with you. We have some of the best facilities in world football, a crackng youth academy that is going to start producing world class talent sooner or later and the nucleus of a championship winning team.... he just didn't have that extra something that all great managers have. He is not a Liverpool legend because Liverpool manager are only judged on the league titles they win  and the European Cups the win. In the future Houllier will prove to have been a very astute appointment by Messrs Moores and Parry, itsjust a pity they let him carry n that lttle bit too long
“It was my first of the season, my last of the season, my best of the season and the one I will remember for ever.”

- Vladi Smicer after scoring in the CL Final

"I'm not a believer in fate..... until tonight, they're going to win it!"

I'd have no problem reading a book on Houllier.  He spent time teaching in Liverpool during Shankley's days and first stood on the Kop for a european tie in 1969 when Liverpool beat Irish part-timers Dundalk 10-1.  From that time he supported Liverpool, managed Paris St. Germain, the French team and was French technical director prior to the '98 world cup.

For anybody interested in football, it seems like a good read.

I've have read and own two books on Houllier.  Read them if only to educate yourself about our club.

Hi johnnymac1979

I saw Stephen Kelly's book today but didn't have the money on me to buy it.  Is it worth going back to the shop for the purchase.  Are the facts expressed in the book accurate ?
