With Steve McClaren now in charge what will his first eleven look like? i think the basis of the team will remain but will he have the balls to drop fat frank to get best out of Steven Gerrard? my team would be:
Robbo
Neville
Carra
Terry
A.Cole
Hargreaves [immense engine]
Lennon
Gerrard
J.Cole
Rooney
Crouch

i like how u left hargreaves in there. there is only one owen for me for england if u ask me, and thats hargreaves, he done himself proud in germany and maybe a possible replacement for hamman people may start saying...

replacement for Hamman, your having a laugh right? we have a player called sissoko who's ten times the player Hargreaves is.

Funny how everyone was slaughtering hargreaves before the world cup and now he puts in two decent performances and every one thinks he is brilliant now.

Yeah, we have momo who is better, but who do we have if momo is injured? we need depth

errr... im sorry but im sure steven gerrard and xabi alonso can play centre mid as well. Hargreaves is a completly average player and will never wear a Liverpool shirt.

hes a bit better than average, he plays for one of europes best teams maybe not good enough to start for us but a great squad player

and how much would it cost to bring him in as a squad player? probably not cheap. Buying someone like Hargreaves would in no way strenghthen the team.

I just know I'm going to get flamed for this but...

The vast majority of you have praised the ability and knowledge of Guus Hiddink and one of the cornerstones to Guus's success is the selection of players who fit in to make up a team and will die working for that team. So far so good...

So rather than select a squad based on reputation why not select a team first and foremost, and that team is made up of players who will WORK for the team and not become a primadonna or spoilt brat when they don't get picked first, or last, or something in between.

Maybe what I am saying is, there is NO room for egos within a team. And frankly the 2006 England squad was FULL of egos. Under these circumstances the player will always play for himself first and foremost.

So select a squad based NOT on reputation but on their selfless ability to work hard for their team, their manager, and each other.

Simple really!!!

i never actually said i wanted us to sign him but in my opinion he would strengthen our squad if momo and xabi are injured who do you play? Diao? no
