I agree with Leon...if you want to give you best memory of something that has no relevance to LFC then stick elsewhere.

If I see it in this thread, that is LFC general discussion, I will delete the fuc.kin thing

(but it wouldn't have anything to do with LFC just a moderator or two on a LFC forum)

1986 FA Cup Final - our first (official) Double, beating Everton 3-1 ( all
3 in the second half... now where else did that happen?)

Also, Derby County away (1988) when we equalled Leeds's record for games unbeaten
at the start of a season.

When I was in England back in 1988-1993, I lived in Norwich where I was studying at the University of East Anglia. I only ever went to 3 Norwich-Liverpool games at Carrow Road, a 1988/89 league game, a 1999/1990 FA Cup tie and a 1999/00 league game.

The memorable one was the first game in 1988/89 league game where the team, after playing champagne football in 1987/88, was disrupted by long injury spells to key players like McMahon, Hansen, Barnes and Whelan. We were playing catch-up to George Graham's boring "1-0" Arsenal and we had struggled to maintain our form. This match was when the very underrated Ronnie Whelan made his starting return, sometime in Feb (if my memory serves me well) 1989. Norwich were initially heading the first division until boring Arsenal overtook them and at this time, Norwich were still above us.

Liverpool bossed the game with Whelan particularly in good form. He scored the winner but the 0-1 victory to Liverpool was not reflected of the way the game actually went. Me and 3 other fellow Malaysians are hardcore Liverpool fans, yet we had to pipe down as we were in the home terraces.

My lasting memory that day was of Ronnie Whelan sidefooting into the net from close range after a nice build-up involving McMahon and John Barnes and Whelan reeling away in celebration.

Liverpool went on a very good run despite being so very far from Arsenal at Christmas. Sadly, we lost to them with virtually the past kick of the season in a game at Anfield (scored by Michael Thomas)which was played after the FA Cup final due to postponements after the Leppings Lane episode in the abandoned FA Cup semi. We were pipped to the league title by goal-difference...

that one's got to be the pick of the bunch form me as well, 12 years later and my ears are still f*ckin ringing the place was so loud that afternoon, i've never heard noise like it when king kenny came on

do you remember the whole place erupting into "there's only one mrs shankly" when the late mrs nessie shankly was introduced? very emotional

just a shame norwich never read the script and decided to beat us

I remember that game well for all the wrong reasons.Ihave never been one to leave the match early,but that day I did.About 5 mins after the kick off.I was still drunk from the night before and was absoloutly bladdered.I had been the match loads of times in that state but had the comfort of my seat,for nostalgic reasons Ihad swapped my stand seat for a Kop ticket.I just couldnt handle it,I retired to the Albert for a fresh intake.Ther were people coming from everywhere for the Kops last stand,and Icouldnt be @rsed. :angry:

so many to mention but i've gone for the semi final against chelsea in the CL. quite simply the most unbelievable atmosphere i've ever known at a football match.

Yeah i remember it was very emotional, the roar when Kenny came onto the pitch was like a goal had been scored....unbelievable.
It was a nice touch getting Shankly's missus on the pitch for a huge ovation as well.
I remember we were singing to Norwich....your supposed to let us win

A great day and the result didnt really matter tbh.

There's nothing wrong with someone putting country before club. There is nothing wrong with ppl stating that the best match they've been to is an England match. Some ppl choose to take more pride in their country than their club, each to their own.

So lay off the lad, not everyone can live in Liverpool and sit in the KOP on those amazing European nites.

I choose to balance between club & country, and don't tell me that you won't be down the pub rejoicing in England's success if they hoist the World Cup.

Think the problem might be the fact that this is an LFC forum not an England one, and the thread was started in LFC General discussion.
If anyone has greater feelings towards there national team then i am shocked but each to there own.
The fact that this is an LFC forum though means that when a thread is started about great memories from past games the replies should be LFC related.
