Daniel alves to red men? - £8million bid on table.

Found this on another forum, so there is no 'real' source (ie, Echo or Mirror etc)

Liverpool ready to pull plug on Alves deal

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez may drop negotiations with Sevilla over fullback Daniel Alves.

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido's refusal to budge from his 10 million asking price is frustrating Benitez, who cannot raise more funds following Djibril Cisse's leg-break suffered before the World Cup.

Benitez has informed the agent representing Liverpool in talks with Sevilla, Jose Rodri, to "look for more reasonable options in line with the finances of the club".

While the deal hasn't collapsed, sources indicate Alves is now closer to Sevilla than Liverpool.

EDIT***

I found this on the BBC Gossip section.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is threatening to pull out of the deal to sign Seville winger Dani Alves. (The S*n)

I'm hoping the article from the other forum cos that means its a crock of shyte and Alves will probably still sign (according to St Mike)

I've heard similar, that Rafa isn't prepared to pay any more than £10m and Sevilla are asking for at least £12m.  Now we seem to have a Mexican Stand-off.  I'd encourage Rafa to give them a deadline (if he hasn't already), then move on.  There's plenty more fish in the sea, especially if you've got £10m to spend!

When will clubs realise that Rafa is the Daddy, and NO-ONE messes with him?

In footballing terms, Rafael Benitez is the Don. If he offers X amount, it's a deal you can't refuse.

:D

If the deal looks like being called off then who do we bring in?
I'm surprised we haven't gone in for Malbranque to be honest,or perhaps Guily.(Both Joaquin & Simao are hugely overpriced/overrated anyway)
As you rightly say,Rafa not a man to P*** about with! :)

From a poster on YNWA whos usually spot on.

ynwa

Sevilla want Liverpool to play their season 2006-2007 presentation friendly in Sanchez Pijuan towards the end of August as part of the deal - helps raise the 15 million euro basic transfer fee even before any performance and objective bonuses.

I was told a deal was agreed in principle. Alves definitely want to move to Liverpool and has told everyone inside Sevilla CF that he wants to go asap. Since then Sevilla have raised the price - everyone over here is agreed that it is just a matter of time before it is announced

Looking good hopefully this deal will be done and dusted this week.
