okay people,so houllier has gone whether i agreed it with him leaving is another issue but what has happend has happend and i think the next manager we get must be able to have knowledge of the foreign market, So for me the valencia coach would be ideal, he is the tactical ability and the eye of players, look at his results. Should be an interesting summer ahead, cisse is still coming apparently but i wonder who else is, lets be optimistic. Respect to houllier though!!

not sure that Rafael Benitez is attacking enough for us. Lets face it we are very good when we play attacking football. He based valencia's title (I know its the title) on hit on break tactics not sure I could stomach that, tbh honest it's no different to last season and it doesn't work in certain leagues. I want to see us going at teams and taking them apart!!

Lep_16 Benitez not attacking? There is a balance between playing attacking and defensive. While scoring 71 goals they have conceded only 27. I think that exactly the balance we need. Their statistic is very similar to that of Arsenal in the premier league. 71-27 vs 73-26 . You call Arsenal defensive?

this is the same rafael benitez who's valencia absolutely ripped us to shreds in the champions league a couple of seasons ago. you don't win la liga by being a defensive team, you win it by getting the balance right.

i think we do have the players to be balanced, but the fact that houllier played a lot of players out of position meant that we didn't get the balance right.

What the ****** is the obsession with foriegn players and managers? Are you all reading the sun or the star and believing that ******?
There are as many good British players about as the ****** from abroad and it is about time that the up and coming Brit managers were given the chance.

i suggested curbishley months ago and was laughed off the forum. people said that he hadn't managed a "top club" or handled "big name players". well has martin o neill managed big name players?

i agree entirely johnbull that a manager who has performed wonders recently at charlton with average players, deserves a shot at managing lfc. imagine what he could do with the likes of kewell, owen, cisse etc.

It's vital that a new manager be installed before euro 2004 as this will give him a chance to do some scouting in Portugal.

it will be announced before the end of the week. i heard parry on the radio earlier on but he obviously refused to name anyone the club had spoken to. they know who they want and they will make sure they get him.
