Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think that Bellamy is a great signing and great value for money too. Okay his attitude has been questionable but TBH I'm not too bothered about that. The only thing that would concern me is he seems to be injured a fair bit.

Before he came to us I had my doubts about his attitude however the only attitude he has had with us is when one of our boys wernt working hard enough and he would let them know.  Nothing will be happening in a game and all of a sudden he will pick it up and before you know it you will have a goal.

Allot of Liverpool fans are moaning about him not being a 'big' name.  Ok, think about this - he can finish - he is lightning quick (he could leave Cisse for dust) he can pass - and he will get the team going.  If you want to swap all that for a big name then give him back and buy Ronaldo or something because theres a big name for you.

Any doubters will have gone by October and I may pop back to see what you think.

Peace out Scousers

Good post. Let's hope he clicks with the rest of the team. I think Rafa will keep his attitude in check. He's a Liverpool supporter which doesn't help either.

Ok - 1st official signing of the summer - jury's still out, but I for one will forgive his past misdemeanors, and give him the benefit of the doubt once he pulls on the Liverpool shirt.

Does anyone know the status of the completion of the Paletta, Aurelio, and Gonzales deals?

Three names:  Morientes, Josemi, Nunez. These were good signing?? And where might they be now??

I rest my case...

All that glitters isn't gold!!!

The jury's out on Bellemy & time is a great measure.

Fowler-E7 >>>>> FUCK off you :censored:

All your comments are complete drivel mostly consisting of "I don't like Bellamy. Lets not sign him and go after class" Its just utter W*nk and needs to stop.

I have got news for you- Bellamy is much better than Bent and Kuyt and perhaps marginally better than Defoe.

BTW you have the most homosexual avater I have ever seen.

a great a well thought out argument to why u think Bellamy should play for us. Fair enough if u like him thats ur opinion. I just dont think he's as good as u seem to think he is.

When did i say i didnt like the guy? ive only ever mentioned his abilty, when did i ever compare him to bent, defoe or Kuyt coz i havnt. so i dont know why ur mentioning that.

At the end of the day the Craig Bellamy is a liverpool player now so he gets my support, i jus dont think he will be that great, thats my opinion. end of.

agree completly, Bellamy is no where near a top class player. Can anyone actually see this guy scoring goals agaist the top sides in the premiership and the champions league. Right now we need a TOP class striker who can score at least 15+ league goals a season, Bellamy is not that player. Im pretty sure Benitez knows this, so he must have another striker lined up for us to sign. Bellamy is a replacement for Cisse, to have as a pacey option.

Okay here it is-------Drivel

Is it not completely obvious that we need a top class striker. I wish it were as simple as driving to Highbury and picking up Henry but it is much more difficult than that. Fact is that there are no top class strikers on the market right now in Liverpool's price range.

I knew you were talking out of your arrse when you said , "Can anyone here see Bellamy scoring against top sides". Just proves you really haven't watched him much this year. He dropped two against Chelsea in one game and although he didn't score, he was dynamite against Arsenal and Man Utd. Why the hell do you think so many Blackburn fans have come on here to lament his leaving.

And as for making a coherent argument, I have done that in support of Bellers on the first 19 pages of this thread. You can go back and find them if you wish to know why I think Bellamy will succeed.

Im telling ya for the last time, a better striker than Bellamy is not available right now and 6m pounds is a great price.

GOOD DAY

u say that im talkin out of my a.r.s.e, coz i said he dont score agaist the good teams, then u go and prove my point by showing me one good team he scored against! one of his goals vs Chelsea was a penalty anyway. He only scored 13 league goals for blackburn (his best premiership tally) yet u think he will somehow turn into a 20 league goals a season striker.

It dosnt matter anyway as he now has signed and like i said earlier he will get my full support.

It's alright saying that Bellamy doesn't score against the better sides, but that is surely down to a lack of service vs the better teams?

How many goals did Blackburn actually score against Sh*tski, the Scum and ourselves last term?

It's more about the fact that they'd have been defending for 89 minuites, rather than "he can't score past them".

Posted this pages ago but it seems relavent to the discussion about Bellamy's performances against the top sides.  Take soccernet's match reports as you will, but they at least suggest that Bellamy was no passenger against the big boys and helped set his team mates up a fair few times.

only top team he scored against Chelsea who won 4-2

Did some research of my own on this one and just for the record...

Bellamy didn`t play against us at Anfield, nor against Man U at Ewood Park in the league nor against Man U in the Carling Cup.

You`ve already noted his two goals against Chelsea in a 4-2 loss at Stamford Bridge.  But let`s see how he fared against the other top four sides.  Here are some excerpts from match reports on Soccernet:

1) Man Utd 1, Blackburn 2 (Sept. 24, 2005)

On days like these, it is a wonder why anyone would risk falling out with Craig Bellamy. The Wales striker was a menace to United's defence throughout. The only pity for Blackburn was that he was the man providing the chances, rather than getting the opportunity to finish them off.  On three separate occasions, Bellamy's strike partner Paul Dickov found himself in a one-on-one confrontation with Edwin van der Sar. Every time he came off second best.

2) Arsenal 3, Blackburn 0 (Nov. 26, 2005)

However, Blackburn started to pose serious problems for Arsenal's defence, with Bellamy emerging as their chief tormentor, while Shefki Kuqi and Morten Gamst Pedersen also came close.

Bellamy forced Lehmann into a smart reaction save with a snap-shot, before Toure headed his follow-up effort over the bar and the Welshman also nipped ahead of Toure to divert a long ball by Lucas Neill just past the post...

...Hughes brought on David Thompson to replace Brett Emerton, but it was still Bellamy who remained his side's main threat, clipping the outside of the post with a header from Pedersen's cross.

Lehmann was nevertheless equal to the Blackburn challenge, tipping Pedersen's inswinging corner over the bar, twice foiling Thompson and then racing out to beat Bellamy to a through-ball.

3) Blackburn 1, Arsenal 0 (Feb. 25, 2006)

The Gunners' majestic Champions League victory against Real Madrid in midweek seemed a million miles away as Pedersen side-footed home from close range in the 18th minute after Craig Bellamy had out-muscled Philippe Senderos to get to the byline.

----------------------------------

Granted, he did fook all against us at Ewood park in April but that`s to be expected with our defense!  :D

Point is, Bellamy had a tremendous impact against the big clubs last season, even when he didn`t get on the scoresheet so I don`t think he`s another Cisse--giant killer against the minnows but out of his depth against talented sides.

I can't be arsed reading through 20 odd pages, but if its a done deal, then I'm glad. I don't think we will be seeing the antics that has blighted his name playing for LFC. I wish him luck and hope he settles in quickly.

Welcome Bellamy.
