I know a lot of you people are popping champagne corks right now, but at the end of the day I for one wish the man all the best in whatever he does.

Cut from liverpoolfc.tv here are some classic quotes from the man.....

Like all great Liverpool managers, Gerard Houllier had a way with words. We present some of his most memorable quotes.
1. "I used to stand on the Kop when I was here in 1969. The atmosphere and passion on the pitch as well as the terraces was intoxicating and Liverpool became part of me from that day on."

2. "Our job is to make the fans happy. When we win, 45,000 people go home happy. When we lose, it not only affects them, it affects their cats."

Numbers 4, 7 and 11 are particularly literal in this case.

All credit to you Leon, you never Wavered in your faith in GH. The fans who wanted him to go (like me) and then get all sentimental and talk about him as if he was great make me puke. They cannot be sad to see him go if they believe he's the wrong man.

I have been humming all day long, I can't wait for next season, we probably won't win the league but there's always hope when you see a new manager building a team.

I never said I didn't want to see a new face in the dug out next season, I simply showed the man the respect he was due whilst some people on this forum treated and spoke of him as though he was a peice of ******.

Humility.

I too am excited about next season, however I wonder what the situation with Stevie G will be noe GH has left, we all remember his comments of a few weeks ago RE houllier being sacked.

I know that a lot of the players really respected Gh, and I wonder how many will be looking to get out following his dismissal ?

players are full of ******, they speak about how they'll consider their future if the manager goes, then when he goes they say they'll stick around for the fans.

I can't remember a player leaving a club out of loyalty to an ex-manager, why damage your career, If SG left for a better club/more money then he'd have done that anyway.

Getting in a new guy is the best way to get Owen and Gerrard to stay, the new guy might convince them of his methods but a manager who's been there 6 years cannot convince that year 7 will be any different.
