Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Showed what I already knew, the guy's fast with a good eye for goal.

Only question is his attitude, but I think a number of factors, including the fact he's grown up a bit, got married & will be playing for the team he supports, should sort this out.

If not, as a few people have already pointed out, we should easily make our money back on him.

A win win situation IMO

He did score some great goals last year and even for Celtic in his short stay there. If he can bring that form to Liverpool then he will fit right in !

My opinion of the Bellamy signing is that it is a pretty good bit of business by Rafa.
I think of all the positions that managers try to fill each off-season the most debated amongst the fans is the strikers. 20-goal-a-season men are very hard to come by and don't often become available and so managers are torn. Do they spend £20-30 million on your Shevchenko's, Tevez's and van Nistlerooy's or perhaps they should take a punt on some of the cheaper options out there. Rafa has limited funds, that much is clear and so he can blow it all on one player or he has to be more frugal to build his squad.
With all this in mind I cannot see how Bellamy can be viewed as anything but a good signing. He only cost us £6mill and his wages in today's market aren't even that high. He is proven at the top level and if he remains injury free I have every confidence that he will score goals. He may flop and he may fall out with the management then so could Shevchenko or Tevez or anyone. I welcome Mr Bellamy to our club and wish him every success in helping us win more and more trophies on route to claiming our league title back.

i have to agree with both sides of the arguements, however most of the problems he had at Newcastle were due to them underperforming and then Souness playing him out of position. Now we're getting our wing problems sorted out I can only see this guy playing up front as he tends to play very similar to rooney where he likes to come back and collect the ball anyway so would fit in with our unit style of play.

Also, if he gets :censored: off that we're underachieving then i'm sure we'll all be pretty :censored: off as well as we shouldn't be doing worse than Newcastle or Blackburn!!!

could be a good move, where ever he has played he has had this mental attitude he his bigger and better than the club he plays for,and made it known. He has always believed he is a top 4 side player and the champions league is the level  he should be playing at .His whole career has been built on frustration and i will show you attitude.Liverpool offer him this and i truly believe when you have seen Bellamy at his best scoring great goals at high pace he is firmly saying Rafa,Fergurson,Mourinio,Wenger.........LOOK AT ME........I feel Liverpool offer the lad everything he could want and feel above other signings like Diouf,Kewell,Nando,Cisse........we could have a gem on our hands.

Phil,

My sentiments exactly!!  hope your feelin ok mate

Bellamy is now a better player than Owen and I bet most of you would be creaming if he came back to us for 10 million!!!!!

Give the lad a chance and if he messes up he'll be sold for no loss!!!

He also turned down the bitters so already he's a hero in my book!!

In Rafa we trust

I think we should get him, £6m is an absolute bargain. I think by moving to a big club it will settle him down. Bellamy works his socks off in the games he plays he has a great finish on him and he has pace. I think he will do well here. I hear that Manure were also after him to replace horse face.

Now that he's as good as signed ......what squad number does he get ??

Give 9 to Robbie and give Robbie's 11 from Last Season to Bellamy ??

Robbie is the only that deserves to wear the sacred number 9

The daily post say the deal will be complete today, £6m is a good price for the lad as he's only 27 so he still has time to reach his peak, I'm sure he'll cure the striker problem we had last season :)

and surely if worse come to worse he is worth much more than 6.5 mill ? so we could sell him tomorrow for a profit   :eyebrow

Of course, that is why I have been an Anfield ticket holder for 17 years and have been a member of this forum for the last 2 years, (although I only post when I feel it necessary).

It is common knowledge throughout football that Bellamy is trouble.  I just think Defoe would be a better bet and he doesn't come with the baggage.  For all those who say we will just sell him on in another couple of years and get our money back you are talking bolox.  If he screws up this time there will be no chance of us recouping £6.5M.  He really would be in last chance saloon.

Nobody but Blackburn would touch the lad 12 months ago ffs

If its true that he's willing to take £15k a week less because he loves us and really wants to play for us then maybe he's exactly the type player we want - committed.  On the other hand it must be an absolute killer to get by on £45k a week... I don't know how he'll do it ???

17 goals in 26 starts for Blackburn last season? So that means if he would have started for us for every game last season (how many games did we play last season, was it about 123 or somethink like that?).... :)
