the people who thinks we shouldnt sign him beacuse of his off field antics are stupid or because hes on the most want to hit list. he is a very good player TEAM player, hes quick skillfull and im betting if he has better players around him it will be a good thing hell score from crouchs flick ons i bet you, i know im welsh but thats not the reason im sticking up for him, i just think he is a very good player and would improve our strike force immensly,

i certainly hope he comes, and he will cos he would be joining a very good team.

but he grew up didn't he. Apparently the fine woke him up. But Bellamy?
How many strikes has he had? And he's 27 isn't he?

I must agree the analogy wasnt a good one as Bellamy seems to cause problems wherever he goes.

Do you have to resort to name-calling just because someone has a different opinion to yours?

What right do you have to call anyone on this forum stupid? ???

Pi$$ off and grow up...

Until you do, your opinions mean nothing to me.

As I've said before, I have no time for children or imbeciles...

Rafael Benitez believes it will be an "easy" decision to make for Craig Bellamy to leave Blackburn and join the club he supported as a boy.

Rovers have confirmed they had allowed Liverpool permission to speak to the Wales striker.

The 26-year-old is reported to have a clause in his contract which allows any Champions League club to speak to him if they offer £6.5million.

Ewood Park officials confirmed the Reds had made an official bid and Bellamy is now set to enter into negotiations, with Benitez in no doubt the Reds fan possesses "the passion" to sign.

"We have an agreement which allows us to talk to the player," Benitez said.

"He is on holiday, but we will talk over the next few days. I know the player's qualities very well. He is a very good footballer and now we need to see if he has the passion to play for our club.

"I don't think this will be a problem because he is a Liverpool fan, so I think it will be easy for him.

"I will be talking to him to express my ideas. He has the ability, the pace and the talent we've been looking for and now we need to talk about other things."

Rovers are keen to hang on to their prize asset who scored 17 goals last season as they qualified for the UEFA Cup.

Manager Mark Hughes spoke with Bellamy on Monday and the club have now reluctantly given Liverpool permission to speak to the former Newcastle player.

"We have made it crystal clear to Craig and his advisors that we want him at Ewood Park," Blackburn chairman John Williams told the club's website.

"We made him an improved offer before Liverpool declared their interest, an offer that was consistent with our ambition and determination to build on last season's success.

"The decision now rests with the player."

Rovers are reported to have offered Bellamy a new contract in excess of £50,000 a week but the suggestion is the player will actually take a pay cut to move to Anfield.

Benitez is keen to find more firepower for his side as he tries to turn them into Premiership title challengers and Bellamy fits the bill after an impressive season with Rovers.

He would add a cutting edge to a misfiring forward line which has already lost Fernando Morientes, sold to Valencia, from last season and Djibril Cisse, who broke his leg just before the World Cup when he was set for a move to Marseille.

The only concern for Benitez had been whether Bellamy was the right character for his closely-knit squad, the player having very publicly fallen out with former boss Graeme Souness at Newcastle which resulted in him being sent to Celtic on loan for six months.

A move to Blackburn followed but Bellamy's insistence of the insertion of a specific clause in his contract suggested he viewed Rovers as a stepping stone to bigger things.

Personally i dont like him, his record is good but reputation not, but if Rafa thinks he will do good and can lose the attitude then i am happy.

I agree with that to be honest.  when Rafa came out and admitted that the collapse of the Cisse deal was gonna effect his transfer policy he wasnt lying.

I not sure why some people tend to think rafa is lying when he comes out and makes statements.

REDS TO BEGIN BELLAMY TALKS

Liverpool have been given permission by Blackburn Rovers to begin transfer talks with striker Craig Bellamy.
The Welsh international has been identified as a target by manager Rafael Benitez and the Reds have now made a bid to bring the 26 year old to Anfield.

"We have made a bid for the player and have now been given permission by Blackburn to speak to him." said a Liverpool spokesman.

Bellamy moved to Blackburn from Newcastle United last summer and enjoyed a great season at Ewood Park where he netted 17 goals in 32 matches.

RAFA: BELLAMY IS A VERY GOOD FOOTBALLER

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is ready to sit down with Craig Bellamy to talk over a possible transfer from Blacburn to Anfield.
The Reds have agreed a deal for the Welsh international and have received permission from the Ewood Park club to talk to the player.

Benitez admits Bellamy possesses all the qualities he is looking for in a footballer and he's hoping the two strike up a good relationship when they meet over the coming days.

Rumours are that this clause that allows him to talk to a Champions League club that offer £6Mil expires at the end of this month. My guess is that a deal for Cisse to join Marseille on loan with a permanent move at the end of the season must be happening, and Bellamy is the direct replacement.

Purely from a footballing point of view, he represents value for money at £6Mil, he does bring determination, acceleration, etc, he does posses £6Mil worth of footballing ability. He is willing to work hard for the team when we don’t have the ball and will drop deep to get involved with build up play as well as pick up very good positions further up the pitch.

But obviously we all know about his problems out side of football and even the problems he has caused with in his club sides, but he come to Liverpool with a clean slate. But more worrying for me is the injury problems he has had, a couple of operations on his knees, regular shin and hamstring problems are likely to reoccur.

It looks like he is likely to arrive, and I have said previously that I wouldn’t mind if one of Defoe or Bellamy arrive, but only if it is in addition to another high quality striker who can lead our attack, I hope Rafa has some one lined up.

I would have stayed clear myself, attitude problems, injuries, and its not as if he has amazing ability, but he will improve our attack. It’s a calculated risk Rafa is taking, if he manages it well then it will turn out to be a decent bit of business, if it goes wrong then we wont have a problem off loading him unless wages get in the way.

When I first heard this rumour I thought it was a windup. I had to check the calendar to make sure it wasn't April 1st.

IMO a Bellamy deal has the same odour as a Collymore!! It's on the nose folks...you can dress it up with odour eaters, roses, whatever you want...it still stinks.

Let's hope someone comes to their senses. There is a lot better players out there than this muppet.

Bellamy will face a new test as a player next year, we play a high pressing game most of the time, teams will sit deep against us and there will not be much space behind to run onto or run into with the ball, how will he cope with this?

If we sign Kuyt, Bellamy and Alves, I will be happy with the summer dealings.
