Overall as I've said before Bellamy will prove to be a good signing and very good value for money.

The comparison with Baros is interesting, because I do see the similarities in their style of play, but with some very important differences - Bellamy is more aggressive and has far more confidence in his own ability than Baros ever had (you don't see him hide when things aren't happening for him on the pitch.  I also think he's a better finisher than Baros, although this isn't the strongest point of his game - he is also a provider and links play well.

As for woof saying that Celtic made no effort to keep Bellamy, that is far from the truth mate.  They at least matched Blackburn's offer, but Bellamy wanted to prove himself in the premiership again and liked the idea of linking up with Hughes who had managed him at international level.  The feeling around Celtic at the time was that they'd done all they could to secure his transfer and were sorry to lose out - as I've said before he was easily the best player in the SPL in his short time there.

If you gave me a choice out of Bellamy, Defoe or Bent it would be Bellamy every time.  I'm not saying we couldn't find better abroad, but we won't find better value for money for a striker who is already used to the Premiership.

I doubt it to be honest - we don't need to because of the release clause and I'm sure Blackburn would prefer the cash.

I can see Pongolle going back to France, I expect us to sign another striker in addition to Bellamy so Pongolle will surely have to leave this summer though.

Interesting post John Craig ! If we do sign the lad, it will definitely prove to be a good signing as well as value for money.

Hope that the news about us bidding 10 millions for Kuyt is true or else Javier Saviola won't be a bad signing on a free transfer.

so if Bellamy comes out and complains that he doesn't want to play right wing what are you all gonna be saying?

i hope bellamy makes it clear to rafa that he is a striker..

On face looks id say that Bellamy is more technically aware then Cisse so im sure Rafa will make use of this. But becasue of his face he is an option on the right wing.

Then again hopefully we will have signed a full time winger.

its good to see Rafa is telling him that me MUST be prepared to play ANYWHERE he tells him.  A good understanding with your manager is important and it looks like Rafa sounds out his players before he signs them.  Also, for 6 million, if it all went tits up., i'm sure we would easily be able to get our money back on him.

Definatley. He of field attitude is not a concern as he as only grouchy at Newcastle. At Balckburn he seemed like  anew man and subsequently played one of the best seasons of his life.

Rafa is known top bring out the best in players and Bellamy could really do some damage should he get his head in the right place.

Also of course id hope that he stays injury free.

Well I took the big step and registered. Been reading you guys for months and enjoy the banter.
My two bobs worth re Bellemy, If Rafa feels he can do a job for us lets give the guy a chance. If like some here think he will start all the "Billy Big Boots" then lets call for his head.
But I am sure Stevie and Jamie wont take any of his B0llocks.

Yay thats it First post done

This would prove to be a good buy, i have no doubt what he can do on the field, but the only sad thing is the breaking up of Bellamy and Dickov partnership, both with no neck :D

Welcome to the forum.

I agree, Bellamy would be a better bet than Cisse but he has a habit of falling out with team mates.
