I am sorry but I cant agree with you on this Oasis. Regardless of what some people think there are more important things in life than football ability, and a players off field actions can reflect badly both on the club and affect sponsorship, harming the clubs reputation and finance.

What a load of twoddle.

One of the best servants to this club will be leaving pretty soon.

The Kaiser was a terrible trainer, heavy smoker and gambling fanatic. However he saved the best 90 minutes of every week for the time he spent in a Liverpool shirt on a Saturday at 3pm.

saint you make it sound like bellamy is shooting cocaine on the side of school playgrounds..

Bellamy seems in many respects like a player who, in terms of personality, couldn't be less suited to Rafa's way of controlling all his players and only signing quiet and hardworking professionals.

However as a footballer he is exactly what Benitez would want on the pitch. He has pace that will benefit our counter-attack, he is a proven premiership goalscorer with great ability. He's relatively young at 26, he is British but doesn't cost double the price he is worth. He can hold the ball up, he can beat players.

He did make a reputation at Newcastle but I thought Mark Hughes has managed him as a player very well and he has been a quiet, solid worker for Blackburn. I'm sure Rafa will be honest with the role he wants him to play when he steps in the door and we can keep him under controll.

My comments wern't aimed specifically at Bellamy (but if the cap fits), I was rather pointing out to Oasis that off field activities can and do have consequencies for the club. As to his scoring record I have covered that in a previous post suffice to say a record of 1 goal every 4 Premier league games isnt very impressive.

Five Live were reporting this morning that Rafa wants to make sure that if he is played in different positions (i.e. Cisse on the right wing) he's not going to throw his toys out of the pram as he did when asked to do the same at Newcastle. As long as Rafa is convinced the deal will be done!

No doubt about Bellamy's footballing ability but I certainly have massive doubts about Bellamy the man .
He proved to be extremely disuptive at Newcastle who were forced to put him out on loan to Celtic, despite being very succesful there (in goal scoring terms) Celtic interestingly made no effort to keep him. Having finally landed at Blackburn where his old national team manager and "friend" is running things he's now looking to move on after only one season ,doesn't say a lot about his sense of loyalty .He'd probably be more at home playing with those money grubbers from Togo !

Personally I hope he doesn't come to LFC ,I can't help but wonder how long it would be before we hear about problems and disruption in the dressing room. The thought of seeing some of our fans with "Bellamy" printed on their shirts makes me sick .

Yeah im have my doubts for the same reasons over this. Im not really going to lose much sleep  into this role model thing off the field unless its something real drastic.  I more concerned what his temperment will bring to the dressing room.
No doubting his ability but its the baggage that comes with it that concerns me

me and my bro were discussing that last night and both said that rafa would sign him and do what he done with cisse and play him wide right.

i don't see the point of that.  Bellamy is not and never will be effective as a right winger.

Celtic did try and sign him but he joined blackburn to play for mark hughes and i think when o'neil left celtic that didnt help.

but yeah i think he is wrong to walk out on blackburn after 1 season.

I can't see a fans revolt against him to be honest. Previously (i.e. Coventry, Newcastle, Celtic etc) he would probably have been regarded as the super star in the squad. If he signed for LFC then he would enter a changing room full of international world class superstars like Gerrard, Carra, Gonzales, Alonso, Traore :D  and many others. I think he will find his neck wound in and he will tow the line. As a footballer he can't pass this opportunity up!!

I read somewhere this morning (skysport?) that Blackburn have offered him a new contract of £65k per week if we have to match that he no longer can be seen as the cheap option. On a 4 year contract thats over £12million +£6Million transfer fee. BENT would cost £40k per week = £8million +£10million transfer. Who would you prefer?

As far as I'm concerned it's a great deal for LFC, especially at that price.

Bellamy has fantastic potential and has tremendous pace, which is something that can't be taught! For 6m he is a bargain, and I think he could be worth up to double that.

True, he is a ****, but I think that has to be put into context a bit more. A lot of the problems have been earlier in his career and I think he has matured since then. I haven't heard of any problems since he moved to Blackburn and if I'm not mistaken, I think he recently got married which has helped him settle down a bit.

As for his most recent row with Souness, I don't condone what he did, but at the time Souness was playing Bellamy at right mid and Shola Ameobi up front on his own. I'm not suprised this p*ssed of Bellamy as Newcastle weren't scoring and he was told to stay on the wing.

I don't think Rafa would sign him unless his head was right, Rafa hates troublemakers and the harmony of the squad is paramount to him. It's not about individual players and star names.

Bring on further signings!!! Incidentally, I've been told that Feyenoord have accepted a £10m bid from us for Kuyt.

REDS TO BEGIN BELLAMY TALKS

Liverpool have been given permission by Blackburn Rovers to begin transfer talks with striker Craig Bellamy.
The Welsh international has been identified as a target by manager Rafael Benitez and the Reds have now made a bid to bring the 26 year old to Anfield.

"We have made a bid for the player and have now been given permission by Blackburn to speak to him." said a Liverpool spokesman.

Bellamy moved to Blackburn from Newcastle United last summer and enjoyed a great season at Ewood Park where he netted 17 goals in 32 matches.
