Looks like Bellamy is def on the way

Story from The Guardian.

Craig Bellamy will join Liverpool next week for £6m after Rafael Benítez chose to activate a get-out clause for that amount, due to expire at the end of the month, in the striker's contract with Blackburn Rovers.
The Wales international, a Liverpool supporter as a child, has proved a controversial figure in recent years, not least after his very public falling-out with the then Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness when he was at St James' Park. He will replace the outgoing Djibril Cissé at Anfield, as talks continue with Marseille to loan the injured France striker to the French club with a view to a permanent move.

Bellamy's desire to leave Ewood Park since his £5m purchase from Newcastle after a season of relative resurgence under his former Wales mentor Mark Hughes will disappoint Rovers, who had hoped to persuade the 26-year-old to remain in east Lancashire. But the clause in the striker's contract was due to expire at the end of June, after which Blackburn could have demanded a higher fee for their leading scorer from last season, with Liverpool finally choosing to make a move after months of deliberation.

The striker had made it clear he would favour joining Liverpool, who will offer him an immediate return to the Champions League, and Hughes was unable to persuade him otherwise. Even so, Benítez needed convincing that Bellamy, who scored 17 goals last season, was the right man to partner Peter Crouch on Merseyside.

Indeed, Benítez's initial plan was to pursue the Charlton Athletic striker Darren Bent. But once it became clear that Liverpool could not sell Cissé for about £8m - as had been hoped until he suffered a double fracture to his right leg in a friendly for France - those plans quickly shifted. Although Bent has enjoyed only one season in the Premiership, Bellamy actually represents a cheaper option in terms of his transfer fee and undoubtedly offers more proven pedigree.

Yeah he did score some great goals fo Blackburn ( 17 altogether i think it was). On th surface he seems like a prolific striker in the prime of his life (26) who is realy adapted and suited to the Premiership.

But take away last year and all I can remember with the Name Bellamy is back talking to the manager and persistent injuries.

Or maybe there was something to do with Graeme Souness's training which forced injuries as they seem to follow him where ever he goes.

For 6 Mil though someone who scored 17 goals is fantastic.

If he stays injury free and keeps in line which im sure he will do as he a life long Liverpool fan, then perhaps he could be the one for us.

i told everyone on here dat villa mite be coming anfeild this just mite be the spark of it coz garcia wants him and benitez is already scouting him

yes, you are spot on mate.  Garcia wants Villa so we might as well hold the press conference now because he'll be wearing the famous red shirt soon.  It reminds me of last summer when Gerrard and Carra said they wanted Owen back at Liverpool and that's exactly how it happened, right?  :O

Stevie G has already made it to clear to the press that he want's Ronaldinho to move to Liverpool FC.  Ronaldinho, having read about this, confirmed to the press today that he want's to make a career progression and believes that Liverpool FC is the club that would help him do this.

Anyone else see this one the news or heard on the radio?

Apparently Ronaldingohas requested permission to fly to England to undergo a medical and be back in Germany in time for Brazils next match.  :D

Seriously though. I think Bellamy for 6m and Sviola for free will allow Rafa to spend more on securing Alves, possibly even SWP and even suring up th defence a bit more with Mexes perhaps.

I really want Saviola to feature for Liverpool in the near future.

That would really solve our striking problems.

Fowler, Crouch, Cisse(no?), Saviola, Garcia and Bellamy.

Now for that right midfield spot.

Is it just me who thinks that any specualation about possible right wingers who might move to Liverpool have slowed down in the past weeks?

I think we are playing a waiting game with Alves, and until that deal is sorted one way or the other the right side is on hold.
