who gives a sh!t about the queen's awards - they mean F all anyway. We all know Stevie is the bollox anyway - who cares about an obe/mbe/cbe? They're all worthless now, they're given out like sweets.
If Gerrard gets offered one in the New Years honours list, I'd tell her to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. Stevie's got enough medals.

I remember her knighting some bloke who owned and ran Asda or something like that a few years back,he went up to collect his knighthood and she asked him "what do you do then".....the fecking queen not knowing who she is knighting beggars belief.Imagine a new version of king Arthur based on that.......rise sir baker of bread,rise sir lances peoples bunnions,rise sir aint got a feck who you are.

An attack on the Queen is like an attack on all British. The trouble is that the internet allows all to voice their views without the restraint of any boundries.

Without getting into the "Royal debate", the fact is she is a representation of the country and any insult on her is an insult to the whole country. You do not have the right!

Obviously I was kidding, but in all seriousness the awards are given to those subjects that raise the profile of her Kingdom.

When Gerrard plays and people around the World say that he is one of the best players in the World and he is English, that raises the profile of England. When you add that he is a good professional, keeps out of trouble and is a model Brit (ie he exibits that Bulldog British "never quit" attitude) it should be a done deal and I am confused as to why not. I am sure he will get something in the New Years list.

that if these awards are going to be given out at all,
they should try and make sure they go to people who really deserve them.

I'm not actually certain that an attack on the Queen represents an attack on Britain as a whole. I've re-read Boodiddy's post and while I can't say I agree with all of it, I don't find myself massively offended either.
He refers to Fergie being a "whisky nose Jock barstard" which with the exception of the deliberately misspelled reference to his parentage is fair enough IMHO. His analysis of the events of the final is just just about spot on aswell, there has not been a team more fortunate to prevail in the European Cup final.
He's presumeably correct and thankfully we can take it as a given about the Queen's nether regions given her age and though I don't agree with the sentiment about the usage of the union jack, it doesn 't bother me unduly that that is his view.
He calls the royals "murdering barstards" and although I disagree with the conspiracy theories about Dianna's death and would make the point that it's a while since there has been any "murdering", there are history books packed full of atrocities throughout the years which have been carried out in the name of the crown. To generalise and lump the current Queen or indeed any of her gunfire shy military sons in with the "murdering Barstards" is stretching the point somewhat but once again, try as I might I just can't get offended.
He finishes his post off with the traditional "huns" retort. I guess he is referring to the fact that the royal family had to change their name from Battenburg to Windsor before the First World War as it was felt by the powers that be that the silly working class people might just get the hump about their teenage sons being mown down in their thousands in some strategically inconsequential French field in the name of a family which was actually from the same place as the people they were fighting against.
You know what? I'm no royalist either but even if I was I wouldn't find this stuff offensive. Maybe we shouldn't take each other too seriously, this is not Question Time on a thursday night it's supposed to be a football forum. Nobody dislikes racism more than me but we shouldn't go hunting for it where it doesn't exist, it just gets boring.
FWIW and as a footnote, I don't think that Steven Gerrard as a 26 year old extremely well paid footballer deserves any recognition in terms of honours at this stage of his career. In time, probably but not now. I'm even more certain that he doesn't give a sh!te either way and frankly neither do I.

It's a common misconception, the Queen has no say on the political scale. The Labour adminstration has the say in who gets a Knighthood, OBE, CBE and so forth. Gerrard in my eyes does not deserve an OBE, CBE or even a Knighthood. What's he done for the country? Nothing, he's a footballer, who plays for Liverpool FC. I've never understood why Actors, celebrities, musicians or sports ppl get these awards.

These awards should be for the ordinary ppl who put everyone before themselves, e.g. doctors, nurses, careworkers, charity workers, fire fighters, police officers and so forth. These awards should be awarded for ppl who do something for the community and others, not for someone who kicks all ball around for 90 minutes once, maybe twice a week.

And no I'm not a royalist, altho I do have to say the Monarchy does wonders for our tourism industry and economy, even if they are backward and disgraceful cowards, who lack basic intelligence, they do serve a purpose.

So to conclude my post; Gerrard doesn't deserve any recognition from the state for playing football and earning £100 grand a week.

thanks for that well thought out insight into you leanings. of course we would be much better off with a president. bush is doing a fantastic job of being a figure head and has not in any way turned americans into possibly the most hated people in the world.

you people are lucky you dont live in thailand. the king here is just celebrating 60 years on the throne and is very loved and respected. in fact its a criminal offence to say anything bad about the king, but to be honest i have yet to meet a thai who does not respect his for what he does for thailand. when someone comes up with a good argument against the royals in the UK (apart from the tripe that good bob has just written) i will happily listen. to be honest im easy either way, i can see the good they do for the country but then again i dont just read the tabloids ranting about taxpayers money
