Martin O'Neill- Very popular manager and a huge success at Celtic. Made Leicester into a team to be reckoned with, and he is full of desire and enthusiasm. I think his best qualities lies in motivating players and promoting team work. I am however a little concerned with his 3-5-2 football. I do not think that formation is the best for Liverpool.

Alan Curbishley- Miracle man at Charlton. Charlton plays attractive offensive football and they are now an established top ten team. I do not think Curbishley is the right man for Liverpool. He has not won anything yet and he does not have the experience to manage a top side.

Mourihno- Looks set to join Chelsea. Otherwise he could be a hot candidate for us.

Deschamps - He has done an amazing job at Monaco. As a player he won everything, and now he has started winning throphies as a manager as well. His strenghts as a player was his brain (tactically , reading the game...). I think Deschamps will become a truly great manager but I do not see him at Liverpool next year.

Daglish, McLaren, Strachan - No way. I will not have these guys and I do not think the board will sign them either.

Hitzfeld - Great job at Munich. Won the league 4 out of 6 years. Always progressed at least to the quarter finals in CL. This year he finished second and was knocked out of CL in the early stages. He has the experience and he is a proven top manager. I would not mind having him at Liverpool next year.

Capello - Roma is in financial distress. I think they will avoid banktrupcy and keep their players and managment team. Having said that I would not mind having him as a manager at Liverpool.

Lippi - He is the real deal. He has an amazing track record and will do a good job here.

Rafael Benitez - Just look at Valencia. With 10% of Madrid and Barcelona's financial strenght he has won La Liga in style. He has taken Valencia to finals and semi-finals in europe and his diciples display true team work and determination. Valencia plays attractive attacking football and they are very solid defensively as well. I think he is the ONE and I also believe he is ready for the challenge.

1. Benitez
2. Hitzfeld
3. Mourihno (if chelsea deal falls through)

I understand that he is a manager at Valencia for only 3 years? Amazing job for turning the club into Top 5 in Europe so quickly...

Good ideas Banana and your thoughts on the subject are very close to my own.

I think McLaren, Curbishley and Strachen are decent managers but I honestly don't see them as title winners, which is what this club wants.

I have friends in Spain who support Valencia and they have been raving about Benetiz for ages now.

Skysports have been suggesting that Benetiz is Moores' and Parry's no. 1 choice.

benitez would be great but why would he leave valencia after just winning la liga and the uefa cup?

for money m8, apparently hes only on 7 thousand a week at valencia( ONLYbeing in football terms) and is desperate to manage a top club in the prem.

Its all spin at the moment.I dont think we are seeing the full picture.According to the Sunday Times O`Neill isnt even in the frame.I just cant believe that.If not O`Neill than we should get Mourinho.Chelsea havent got him yet.

Not sure about Benitez, it is quite scary to me because I don't know much about him and would he became a titles winner at Anfield?
What's his formation that he use, does he like attacking formation or not?

Valencia played some fabulous football in Spain this year and they have been celebrated in the Spanish press for winning the title with good footballing principles but with little resources.

Apparently Valencia are massively in debt.

There has also been a rumour that Moores and Parry have decided against Martin O' Neill as they think he is too much of a firebrand and would be difficult to handle.

If they think that O' Neill is a firebrand wait until they see Mourinho!

The agent of Valencia coach Rafael Benitez has insisted the Spaniard has not been approached by Liverpool.
The Sunday Times reported Benitez, who guided Valencia to the league title and the Uefa Cup this season, had been shortlisted to replace Gerard Houllier.

Benitez's agent Manuel Garcia Quilon told BBC Sport: "Nobody from Liverpool has been in contact with him."

On Saturday Houllier said he was convinced he would be in charge at Anfield next season despite continued speculation he is set to lose his job.

The Reds' refusal to publicly comment on the rumours has led to suggestions that a managerial change is imminent.

But the Frenchman insisted: "I am 100% sure I will be here next season.

Last week Quilon was reported to have said Benitez had received an offer from an English club.

"I cannot comment further from what I said the other day. We do not have any agreement in place at present with Liverpool football club," said Quilon.

Since taking over from Hector Cuper in June 2001, Benitez has guided Valencia to two Primera Liga titles.

He joined Valencia from Tenerife after a short spell with Extremadura.

Previously, he had undistinguished tenures at Valladolid and Osasuna, while he also spent two years at the helm of Real Madrid's high profile B team.
