Could've sworn we bought Diouf to fill the void we were leaving by not signing Anelka.
If that's the case, why hasn't he been given a prolonged run up front? A few good moments aside, he's been generally aimless on the right, and would be far better served trying to use his pace and trickery in the box rather than down the wing.
Now that Emile's gone, would it be worth holding onto him and giving him a punt up with Owen or Cisse should one or the other's form drop? I just think it'd be a shame if we ended up selling him when we've never actually allowed him to show what he can do in the position that we signed him for. You never know - he could have a season like Angel's just had at Villa.
And if nothing else, when you have Owen, Cisse, Baros, Pongolle and Diouf in the squad, it makes you wonder why GH has opted to play Cheyrou and Kewell up front at various points this season. Why exactly did Houllier fork out all the £s for Diouf if he doesn't trust him to do a job up there?
