Le tallec: les miserables

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

seems like now this been a good time for unhappy players to pass 'SOS'. Anthony must now leave as soon as possible for his own future sake. He's a good player, but now time is running out for him.

Skysports reported that Liverpool Anthony Le Tallec has confessed he made a mistake by leaving the club when Rafa Benitez arrived at the helm.

The French starlet believed he would not play under the Spaniard and decided to go out on loan to gain first-team opportunities. However, Benitez has since revealed that Le Tallec would have been given a chance at Anfield.

"I think I made a big mistake by leaving Liverpool so early," he told France Football.

"Recently my agent had a talk with Benitez and he told him he relied on me at the beginning, even if he didn't show it.

"The biggest mistake was when I went to meet him and asked to be loaned."

The Under-21 international is now keen to leave Liverpool this summer and return to France, and he admits a move to Paris Saint Germain would be his first choice, despite the interest of Bordeaux.

"The talks with Liverpool's officials went smoothly they said it was best for me to leave," Le Tallec continued.

"They will buy two great strikers, I think, so in my mind I have already left.

"Everyone knows Paris Saint Germain has always been the club in my heart, if they make a good offer I will go, but it is not the hottest trail so far.

"I know the club wants to sell me for a sum of €2.5 or €3 million, with a percentage of the next sale, because the Liverpool officials believe I have qualities to find another great club in the future."

Seems a bit of a cock, Le Tallec doesn't he?

I've never heard or read an enlightening article about him.

The problem is that he has always been too good for the reserves but not quite good enough to play first team at Liverpool, and being stuck between the two has harmed his development. He’s 21 now I think and he has missed out on a lot of his development years, ideally he would have had a season or maybe two of first team football under his belt, preferably at least one year in the Premiership.

As a youngster he had plenty to work with but not having first team football and a stable management team working with him has cost him big time. I have always liked Le Tallec, he’s technically sound, tall, good header of the ball, has vision and knows how to defend. He is a central player but people seem to have differing opinions on whether he should play as a centre mid or as a striker. I personally see him in the Bergkamp type role, someone who can drop and play in the hole and use his vision and technical ability to link the midfield and strikers. I don’t really blame him for wanting to play first team football last year, we don’t know exactly what happened, but it seems he may have gone about it in the wrong way, but he wouldn’t be the first 19 year old to make a mistake. I would like to see him get a bit of muscle on him, because he isn’t particularly quick anyway, so losing pace wouldn’t be a worry.

It a shame, because I think things may have worked out differently had Houllier stuck around (not that I’m saying he should have). The best move for him is to go back to France and play every week, he is only 21 so if he is good enough then their will plenty of time for him to take a step up to a bigger club. I’m not surprised we are trying to put a clause in his contract so that we get a percentage of his next transfer fee, he clearly has some talent to work with and may go on to better things.

I think he does have the potential to be a good player, he played very well against juve at home last year but unfortunately he is up his own :censored: and expected to much to soon, hardly suprising when Gh is calling him the next zidane aswell  I think he can go on and play for a big club in the future so the % of next sale is good business IMO, its a shame really.

WTF are you talking about ? "up his own a'rse.....expected to much to soon" ?

The lad joined us 4 years ago , since then he's been loaned out to Le Havre ,St Etienne and Sunderland . How long exactly does he have to hang around before you consider his expectations to be less than premature ?

Well as far as i know as soon as rafa arrived le tallec was expecting first team football and when he wasn't guaranteed this he spat out his dummy and demanded to go out on loan. He was not forced to go on loan and if he is expecting to be a first choice striker at a club like ours without any evidence to support his claims then well i think his head must be screwed on somewhere other than his neck. How the fu.ck does a lad of 20 odd years of age with little experience of playing at the highest level expect to play as first choice striker for a major club like liverpool, its like walcott demanding first team football at ar.senal, its just not happening unless the kid has exceptional talent like shrek and being honest we all know le tallec doesnt have that talent.

And you know this to be true because .....................?

I on the other hand must have read a different newspaper as I understood that far from asking for guaranteed first team football he was in fact advised that going out on loan would be his only chance of getting first team football .

Funny how the media shapes our perspective , maybe the truth lies somewhere in between .

bruno cheyrou, salif diao, hadji diouf, sinama pongolle, anthony le tallec, jean michel ferri, paul harrison, patrice luzi, daniel sjolund, etc etc. how many players of GH buying were just hopeless, we could have landed sheva for those prices

regarding le tallec, i was made up when he came, since they -with flo, were ones of the most wanted lists at that moment. what have GH done to them? have been they castrated?!

Big mistake letting Le Tallec go. The player is just starting to become fully grown & when he fills out will be powerful & deadly in front of goal. I've said it before, one day this player will be one of the top strikers/attacing mids in europe & I just hope its for Liverpool.

Don't rate ALT, I did at first but he hasn't exactly scored many goals at the teams we've loaned him out to :(

Unluck mate, good luck in France, just a quick tip from Paul C: don't ask to be loaned out in future :;): :D

I've always thought ALT's best position was centre-mid where his passing range and heading ability can be utilised although he would need to improve his tackling. Unforunately there are hundreds of players out there who can play 'in the hole' or as 2nd striker so he was always gonna be up against it.

Has - I think you're right when you say his future lies in France but i would be surprised if we get more than 1.5mill for the lad.
