I think you're getting confused I never said that Hungary's goal was a lob and yeah Robinson probably couldn't of saved it but he was out of position and far too far off his line. That's the point I'm trying to make and the reason I'm going on about lobbing is the small fact that nearly every single England number one has been lobbed through not being in the correct position or being far too far off their line. It has cost us dear many a time and I don't want it to happen again.

Yeah it was a good strike, not saying it wasn't but Robinson might of done the unthinkable had he been in a better position and not so far off his line.

Seaman was far too far forward of his line and he couldn't backtrack quick enough, I believe he was 4/5 yards off his line? If he was 2/3 yard off he would of pushed that over the bar without much trouble. You're gonna say, "well how was he supposed to know it was gonna come str8 to his goal?" The simple answer is he didn't, so he let his guard down and thought I'll come out a few yards and he did and got caught out. He also was lobbed elsewhere for England, again he was too far out and couldn't deal with the shot, football's a funny old game, ppl score magical goals and that's why goalkeepers should be prepared for the unexpected.

If Robinson doesn't think about these possibilites and doesn't get himself in the right position or comes too far forward (as he has been doing) he will cost us dear.

The point about Seaman is fair enough i did say he was caught out of position and was plenty of times during his career.
But i havent noticed that yet with Robinson at all, he was beaten from range but was not caught out positionally he was just beaten by a great goal.
Hopefully the curse of the english keepers being lobbed wont happen during this world cup, but so far Robinson has impressed me with his shot stopping, positioning and decision making.

Please!  I generally accept most people's views on here and don't make it my aim to belittle people at all.  You, however, are a special case because your comments are just so ludicrous sometimes.  Plus, they're delivered like gospel, which makes them ripe for being picked apart.  Surely you must see that I'm not the only one that takes issue with many of your opinions.  So, who do you think's the problem--me or you?

I might talk (s)hit in your eyes and other ppl's, I don't care these are my views and I'm gonna stick with them...

But you won't!  That's the thing.  You'll go on like this for 3-4 more posts, insisting that Robinson is utter rubbish, that he routinely takes up a position on the penalty spot, that he makes Jabba the Hut look trim or some other nonsense.  Then, you'll come back on here tomorrow and admit that you were way over the top and that you knew all along that no keeper could have saved that shot.  Remember the whole Morientes thread, my friend?  You were talking all manner of sh!te for awhile and then totally and utterly reversed course and agreed with all of your critics.  So, it's your opinion at this moment but it won't last and that's why I can't respect most of the things you post because you don't even respect your ideas enough to stick with them!

...so if you don't like them don't read them simple as.

What, and deprive myself of all this fun?  You have got to be one of the most entertaining posters on this board--it's dead hilarious watching you work yourself up into a bluster about some little thing and then watch it ever-so-slowly get deflated as level-headed, consistent posters offer their counter-arguments. :p

For the record, I don't dislike you (you're just words on a screen so how could I?), I don't make it a point of following you around the boards taking the p!ss, and I am certainly not looking to marginalize you or drive you off the boards.  What I am interested in is well-reasoned discussion about Liverpool specifically and footie in general.  To your credit, you have made good points on a number of threads in the past but every so often you come out with stuff that seems so poorly reasoned and so much like a wind-up that it makes me wonder what it is you actually think on any given topic.

But, hey, if that's cool with you than it's cool with me...post what you like, I'll continue to read it and will comment as the mood strikes.  Rant Over.

On the topic at hand, have a look at this replay of the goal, especially the last camera angle (behind the goal).  Robinson is no more than 2 feet off the line by my estimation and he never would have got there even if he was on the line.  It's like criticizing their keeper for Crouch's goal...I suppose you could but why can't we just acknowledge it was a nice strike?

You put out the 'bait'

Except the banter little devil.

Your worse than a Chelsea supporter, you and your nation jump on the bandwagon of 'soccer' supporters because you've qualified at long last.

All Aussies and you harp on about these friendly results all the f.ucking time. Because we didnt beat Hungry 4/5 -1 and you did that tells you how well we're gonna do   'Oh thats right you beat us a few years ago, that means your better than us. Now you've beaten the European champs(Greece) that means you'll beat the likes of France, Holland, Italy, Germany, Spain and England of course'.

Then you go on about our expectation and say that our players will be sh.itting themselves. Mate I live here in Australia the main land  :D  and all the hype that surrounds the Australia is exactly what the English do in the countdown. to the WC. I'd imagine most countries would do this and expect something. Over here in Oz most of the nation reckon they'll get past the group stages after there win over a lacklusture Greece side. If they manage to beat Holland on Sunday you'll probably harp on about that for the next three years, ' We beat Holland a few years back'  and probably think you'll reach the semi's or even win it.

Now you set the bait and I took it  :D  that is what I love about the Aussie's you can have a good bit of banter with em. I think its great Australia have qualified for the WC (so it will defo be on the box) and it raises the game in this wonderful country.
But before you go out givin to much stick to the POM's about there soccer hopes, if I were you I concerntrate on my own team and hope they get a point or three.  :D

As a long suffering football lover in Australia the sudden interest in  football is a double edged sword.
While it finally great to see it getting the headlines, it also quite annoying to me seeing mainstream media that have ignored and derided the game suddenly become rabid devottees.
Even more so because i know as soon as we exit the cup they will abandon it and it will back to good old Sex Boobs and Soccer channel to find anything worthwhile about football other then hooligan stories

Cant get into this Anglo banter though as a 1st generation Aussie i always  support England as well. Will be hoping they will go all the way once of should i say we exit the Cup   :D
