I was about 12 at the time and remember being out playing football in my local park that night as the game was about to kick off. It was only that i was about to leave to run home that another friend that i knew said it looks like its not going to take place because both sets of fans have started fighting. It still didnt stop me running home to see it and when i got there my mum said that Phil Neal has been on the p.a asking for calm from supporters. Looking back im amazed that this game went ahead and although the result mattered at the time it doesnt at all now.

dark days. there've been some.  and this giant of a club is hewn from the very rock of bill shankly's spirit....there are times when that has been necessarily called upon in order to face head on with honour, humility and respect, the ghosts that weave right through its rich history. memories that have nothing to do with the name of football, but of the very fabric that is mankind and the legacy left by both his actions and his mistakes.  tears of both joy and shame can sting the faces of all men regardless of allegiance or duty, or rank for that matter...... there is no disgrace in that...and with such strengths that are inherent in liverpool football club and its supporters,  no-one who falls under its spell will ever be left to walk alone....nor will its adversaries witness anything less.

those who lost the chance to sing again can never return.

that doesnt mean our voices should be silent. in remembrance of that fated night and both through the passing of enough time perhaps. and, with the so called spirit of  'amicizia' (sp). the tensions may have lessened to a degree. they'll never go away for good...some stains can never wash out...   as bittersweet of a ride its been and probably always will be. NO other club in the world can understand better, the consequence of life itself.  thats both endured and portrayed on the faces of the people who live and breathe for this one. each and every minute of each and every day since both the 29/05/85  AND the 15/04/89...

god bless. rest in peace for them ALL.

Possibly the darkest moment in european cup history...

I remember this very vividly.. terrible.

The only thing in our history which was worse was a date we all remember... But for those that died 21 years ago

Walk on.
