Welcome aboard and don't take no sh!te from the Greeks!

Sorry, pal... Did I said anything wrong to "der_kaiser" and I didn't get it?
On the contrary, all my words were "anthem" for Ireland!

Anyway...

i'd say most people round here don't knwo a word of Gaelic, lol. and no my shcool didn't teach, thanks for the lesson though. how come you know so much about ireland if your from greece?

SO PITTY, laddie! They DON'T teaching you Gaelic??? Why, in the name of Jesus? It's your people's LEGASY, man!
It's like asking an Englishman about Arthur's saga and he'll aswer to you "Arthur who?"...
Damn same. But, don't "worry"! In Greece TOO, they DON'T teaching Ancient Greek language anymore; except some private schools that you pay A LOT of EUROs to learn them!
Thank God, my parents and many uncles of mine, DOES KNOW quite good Ancient Greek and they learning me a lot of stuff...

Anyway, Like the small... "history lesson" of mine said, Greeks having STRONG bounds with Irish/Scotts! Also, if you visit a puplic library in Belfast and check/find/read the "Book of Conquests" - the CLASSIC IRISH saga of Irish mythology - and then COMPARE it with "Homer Iliad" ("Trojan War"),... it's ALMOST alike! And, many mythological Irish heroes having "modified" names of ancient mythological Greek heroes!

The famous Irish folk dance (with the fast small jumping and the hands attached to the body) is TOO familiar with a Greek ancient folk dance, STILL dancing also in some Greek territories!

We, the Greeks, having SO MUCH fellow-feeling for Irish/Scotts and I personaly had met many Irish/Scotts and when I introduced myself as a Greek, they ALSO gave me the same impression/feelings for us!
(In the Highlands of Scotland, I've spend a GREAT summer in 1999... Outstanding people!)

And, we are SO SIMILAR people, Irish & Greeks! We like to dance, drink, we are happy people, we like too fist-fighting for ANY reason, we're tough, proud, patriots, etc.!

... In another post, if you people like, I will write to you about the bounds between Greeks & Scotts, from Picts' ancient scrolls reports!...

Cheers mates...

Same on you!

A fellow from BELFAST, NOT know "Gaelic" ??? Anyway, that's not your fault; your schools MUST learning you Irish (even if you are a descendant from English settlers)...

The first phrase means "A Million Wellcomes" and it's the CLASSIC/TRADITIONAL Irish greeting.

The last word I used, means simply... "Cheers"!

...

About the "bound" between Irish-Greeks...

Before the Devine Dynasty of "Tuatha de Danann" (most famous myth in Ireland), the "Green Island" was FIRST ruled in 1700 BC (more or less) by a Greek settler (thereafter, king) named "Partholon", with his wife "Dalna" or "Dealgnaid" and this Greek dynasty last for 300 years... After them, the giants "Fomors" took over the island... These been defeated by the "Nemeds" and they also defeated by the "Fir Bolgs", the ULTIMATE CELTIC BLOOD tribe - according with the historics. Then... came the "Mighty & Devine... Tuatha de Danann" and finished the "creation/formation" of the Irish blood-line...

(Hahaha... Little history doesn't hurt, isn't it?)

Cheers again...

I learn new stuff every freakin' day.

By the way, did anyone else see the connection of Irish and Greek mythology and the club from Liverpool with the FC at the end?

:D
