First of all, if any of you were wondering what Phil is like, he's a top lad. He hasn't let his head drop, and he is facing this dreadful situation with his usual sense of humour.
One thing that is obvious is Phil's love of Liverpool FC. Everyone knows he loves our club, and has supported them through 4 seperate decades, been to 3 European Cup finals, and had a season ticket for many years.
What perhaps isn't so obvious is how much he is truely touched by the support, both mentally and financially he has recieved from the members on this forum. He said to me that he feels undeserving of such support from his fellow members.
But we are all Liverpool fans. The show of support he has recieved from this place is astounding. He has a wall covered with cards from the members, and he is moved by the humanity and thoughtfulness of our efforts.
Karen is a lovely lady aswell, and the strength she has shown beggars belief. The love these two so obviously have for one another makes Phil a rich man, despite the set-backs he has to deal with.

I would encourage you all to get along to see Phil, assuming your situations allow. He is a good man, and does not deserve the hand life has delt him health-wise.

Above all, I would like to wish Phil, Karen and his family the best of luck in his recovery.

And I would like to add that all you members are bloody fantastic. :)

you`ve got a big heart youself there lando, thats a  nice gesture mate.
come on phil remember wolves away last game of the season for the title? they scored with 15 minutes to go but to the likes of keegan and kennedy it was never over.

We are still all thinking of you Phil, even if some of us haven't as much time as we would have liked to write longer testimonials to you.

hi, im sorry i dont exactly know who drummerphil is, but i can see that he has a great impact on many supporters on this forum, and that he is a TRUE liverpool FC fan.
From the posts i have read i gather that he is keeping his head up high, and in a time like this....it's quite remarkable.
I have had to go through a similar situation like this with a beloved family member of mine....and from my experience, the love and support of friends and family is vital in a situation like this....it sounds cliché, but it is so true.....y.n.w.a...

Hi Everyone,

A very big thank you to Lando for his visit yesterday but this is in no way to undermind all the kind and strong support from those who can not visit.  Phil may not even remember Lando's visit when I see him today but once I remind him it should come back to him and the first thing he always asks is "have you got any printouts from the forum" he will never forget you guys, you are implanted in his heart forever and no cancer will ever destroy that.

Phil's reponse to Liverpool FC getting in touch was not what I expected but he thought that by using the Willow Foundation for his visit to FC he would miss out on using the 'one day event' available from the Foundation to meet you chaps in the Spanish restaurant in West Kirby, but I informed him that he will be able to take friends along with him (not sure yet on numbers) and what better thankyou to you guys than to meet Phil at Liverpool FC and for you to get to meet some Liverpool players too!  He quite liked that idea but said it was still his priority to thank you all personally in some shape or form.

The guy from Liverpool FC said it would be better to use the Foundation for the visit because they deal with them alot and they provide all necessary medical care etc for the visit, they would arrange a visit themselves but this would involve getting letters from doctors ie. proof and fitness to travel for insurance reasons) therefore by using the Willow Foundation this would speed the process up and cut out a lot of 'red tape'.   But also if it was not possible for the visit to take place to keep in touch with FC and he would see what they could do, all very hopefull whatever arises.

Sorry I didn't get to spend much time with Lando yesterday but sure you guys were happy to talk 'Liverpool' without me (sorry but me too!) and I apologise to Lando as I was rather annoyed when I got to the hospital after spending 3 hours with someone to be told that while Phil remains in hospital there isnt really alot of 'benefits' available to us and its going to be a very steep and hard uphill battle to keep the roof over our heads.  But once I calmed down I know we are far better off than millions in the world and whatever happens the love and support of close family and friends is what will keep us afloat and we will never walk alone.

Karen x

Regards to you all.

Karen, I think that if times are hard for you and the kids we could all chip in a small bit more to help you pay the bills.

What do other people think?

I'm more than happy to contribute more but I'm not being disengenous when I say that while I have a better income than a lot of people, I genuinely cannot contribute as much as my heart pleads with me to as I'm buying a house at the moment and planning on getting married, and literally every spare penny I have is tied up in those two projects. However, I am more than happy to make a second donation to help support Phil's family and I would encourage other people to do so as well.

Don't be daft!

Ofcourse I understand why you were annoyed - who wouldn't be?

It's about time this country supported it's citizens, instead of finding ways around it.

You'll always have our support on here, and you tell Phil from me to do whatever he wants with the Willow Foundation day out. Don't worry about thanking us lot - we already know.

:)

Best wishes.
