From icliverpool:

Valencia striker's Anfield snub

May 25 2006

By Stephen Mullen, Daily Post

VALENCIA striker Marco Di Vaio claims he has turned down a move to Liverpool as part of a swap deal with Fernando Morientes.

The 30-year-old Italian forward says his club have approached him about signing for Rafael Benitez's men in a deal which would take Morientes to the Mestalla.

"They have spoken to me about that proposal," he said.

"Valencia wants Morientes but I don't want to know anything about a possible exchange.

"I'm not going to go where I don't want, more so, if it means that another player joins Valencia. I'm not a parcel, I have a family."

The former Italy international has set his sights on a permanent move to Monaco, where he was on loan from December until the end of the season.

"I will do everything possible to remain at Monaco," added Di Vaio.

"Monaco is my priority. If that cannot be then I will consider other offers."

To be honest hes just another wash up. Im not saying Moro is a wash up but even in his younger years Di Vai was never as good as Morro. He was ok at Parma but thats it. If there is any striker in Serie A that I would consider it would be Martins.

He would have been worse if anything in my opinion. The only play id like to see swapped from Valencia is Aimar or Villa but I dont see them selling Villa.

You must understand this statements of Di Vaio in a context of bad relationships with Valencia, not that he doesn't rate us. He did have lots of troubles yesteryear, and, I can understand his point of having a family, and wanting to have a say about where he wants to play.

He is a good player, but, if he doesn't want to come, it's ok.

According to Marca, the deal is being worked on anyway. Liverpool would ask 6M Euros (4M quid) at least o get rid of the player, and according always to this newspaper, Barcelona and Sevilla has also joined the bidding after watching the money Liverpool is asking (reasonable money).
