I just saw this game that's being released soon called Medieval War II (or something like that). Anyone played the first one? Worth a look?

Nintendo has just confirmed that the Wii will sell for no more than $250 in North America and 25,000 yen in Japan. The company plans to ship 6 milllion systems to retailers around the world between its launch and March 31, 2007. Nintendo went on to say they expect to sell 17 million Wii games in the same period. Still no word on the exact date, though October is becoming a strong possibility.

What the hell Nintendo, when did you hire Bob Barker to head up your PR team? Hit the jump for the full, but short press release. Brian Crecente

REDMOND, Wash., May 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Following its
overwhelming debut at E3 2006, Nintendo today announced the current fiscal
year unit shipment forecast for its new home game system, Wii™. Nintendo
also confirmed that the price of the Wii system, which incorporates unique
freehand control, will not exceed $250 in America, or 25,000 yen in Japan. The
company plans to ship 6 million systems to retailers around the world between
its launch in the fourth quarter of 2006 and the end of its fiscal year on
March 31, 2007.
The projections are part of a full-year financial forecast that sees
growth of 18 percent in sales globally, based on anticipated continuing strong
demand for the Nintendo DS™ portable game system, as well as a successful
launch for Wii.
The company also said it expects to sell 17 million Wii games in the
period. Exact launch dates, identification of the launch library of titles and
details on the unique Virtual Console aspect of Wii will be announced soon.

You buy a PS3, you keep it. Forever. Until you die. Maybe not, but Sony's doing their damnedest to make sure there is no used PlayStation 3 market says UK site Games Radar. According to the site:

It seems that Sony is planning to adopt a licensing system that will mean gamers won't own the PS3 titles that they've paid money for. Instead, they will only be purchasing the licence to play the game and that the software itself will still be Sony property - meaning that the disc won't be the customer's to sell.

Next Gen reports that Sony did refuse to comment on the story, but has a patent on tech that ties software with an individual piece of hardware. But is this story true? An insider tells Next Gen, "I know that Sony is very upset about the used games market. But this story seems a bit far-fetched." Brian Ashcraft

Isn't this pretty much what Valve are doing with half-life 2 and such?
Once registered isn't the actual game disc more or less useless for resale ?

This may be going against the grain, but I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad idea. I think it’s ridiculous how much money retailers make off the back of second-hand sales, and developers should get a piece of that pie.

On the flip side, games are too expensive, and the high price is one of the main forces driving the second-hand games market. Publishers should cut game prices if they want to make in-roads into limiting the second-hand market.

And they won't get killed because people will flock to the shops like sheep to buy a PS3 anyway so they can do what they like. They know this and they take full advantage.

High street games shops have been told by Sony that there will be no PS3 pre-owned sections in their stores as it will be illegal for customers to sell any next-gen PlayStation games that they've bought, retail sources have revealed to GamesRadar.

It seems that Sony is planning to adopt a licensing system that will mean gamers won't own the PS3 titles that they've paid money for. Instead, they will only be purchasing the licence to play the game and that the software itself will still be Sony property - meaning that the disc won't be the customer's to sell.

We assume that the thinking behind this move will ultimately be to stop PS3 games being resold several times - which currently snatches potential sales away from Sony - and to counter the impression in consumers' minds that games are only really worth their pre-owned price and are not worth buying new.

When we contacted Sony, it issued us with the following statement: "We have made all of the official announcements at E3 and cannot make any further comments at this time. We will be announcing more news running up to PlayStation 3's launch."

So what's new!?! It was a shock to find out that they actually had one that didn't self-detinate at E3 and when you look at the broad spectrum of their games, you see that for every great title, there are up to 15 sh!te ones. The only reason that the PS beat the N64 was CDs. Everyone was like "Oh My God! This is the future!" Even though cartridges can hold more info and don't damage as easily, they just didn't look as cool, so that was the end of that. Then everyone got this "them and Us" mentality and a lot of Sony players over the years have seen themselves as the elitists. Because of all of this they can be assured of massive sales, so they got sloppy and comfortable. The Wii and the 360 will reap the rewards, but the PS3 will still sell well because it's the happy medium.
