I caught the Finnish act because we got the pub to stick it on. They were so funny, but they made it so much better and the song isn't that bad as a sort of powerchord heavy, grrrrr, showtune. The British act was shockingly bad and the Irish had a really good singer. Well, I was drinking with a lot of Munster fans so I took their word for it because I couldn't hear straight by that point. Good for Finland for actually making it an interesting night though.

Uk bloke is actually a bit famous in the music industry. He is one of the main men in United Nations who had the hit remix 'Out of Touch'. He has been involved with loads of other famous songs and bands too, i heard him being interviewed on Irish radio last week but i forget the rest. And the Irish bloke was Brian Kennedy who was the person who sang 'You raise me up' at George Bests funeral. Talented bloke he is. Still surprised Finland won it when i was told the next day, as said above the state of em!

Ok. You know the Turner Prize? The award given to artists? Well, for the past few years it's been a bit of a joke with the most unartistic pieces winning (Tracy Emin's "Bed" being one of them). Well, a couple of years ago, some Scottish artist submitted a light switch. Just a light switch. It won. But the thing is, he was taking the pi55 out of the competition. He did a spot for the BBC news and the interviewer (their art corrospondent) was asking him "So, what does it symbolize? What deep, philosophical message are you trying to convey? How is this piece a metaphor for the world we live in?" to which he replied "It's a lightswitch". He was trying to demonstrate that it's such a ridiculous competition, that the only way to win is to take the pi55.

Eurovision is equally stpid because the winner has nothing to do with the music. We went to war with Iraq, so we never get votes from the French. Because of their genetic and geographic links the Scandinavians will always vote for other Scandinavians, and Balkans will vote for other Balkans. Finland realised this and worked out that the only way to win through music alone, is to take the Pi55. So they did, and they won because they made a mockery of the whole competition by introducing Cradle Of Filth to Andrew Lloyd Webber in the form of Lordhi (or whatever their name is). Good on them. At least this year there was some element of entertainment.

the voting system is well f.ucked up. this used to be the best bit at the end...now its all 'you scratch ours' kind of mentality amongst the participants....'love thy neighbour' if you know what i mean...nudge nudge.. well its boring and so predictable now.... tallinn calling!

btw how come places like italy, netherlands etc dont get an entry?  maybe they do but arent considered (ahem) good enough for the final 24 i suppose.... ???

daft show to be taken only in the lightest of heart...obviously!

:)

btw any credence this programme once had has fast evaporated due to the 'painfully cliched' and often sexually orientated utterings of its commentator   :sleep
