:no What a great topic, ruined agin with Stu you know nothing Im right about everything.
Forums are about opinions if we all agreed, there would be no dissgussion no one can see into the future.
Sissoko would walk into Arsenal and Man Uniteds team any day, and maybe he will turn out to be a 20 million pound player, he is only 21 and was originally a striker till Rafa turned him into a midfielder.
But to say everyones wrong and your the only one who knows anything about football is total Bullsh.it.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

This is the one. And save for a pointless argument mid-thread, it was a good topic and it it's interesting to see how we all began to see the light.

On 6-0-6, Alan Green just said there's no doubt that Sissoko has the potential to be the next Viera.  I just thought I'd throw that into this thread as I respect his opinion.  Momo was excellent today, and his fitness allowed Gerard to roam...the rest is history.

Momo was absolutely fantastic again saturday and gets better with every game, his passing is getting better as well.

I have never seen a player with the energy levels this lad has, he is everywhere, and for the whole 90 minutes.
With Alonso spraying the passes around and Sissoko snapping at the feet of the opposition players whenever we dont have posession our midfield is the best in the league imo.
It has given Stevie the chance to push forward and with his pace and direct running not many defenders can cope.
It would be interesting to see the stats of games we have lost with the Mali man in the side, as he was out injured against chelsea charlton benfica (HOME)and when he was on the pitch away to Benfica we didnt look like conceding either.
I dont think he is really like Vieira at all (except in looks) Vieria had a bit more grace on the ball and can spot a pass better, but Momo covers every blade of grass and is already looking like one of the best destructive midfielders in the world, i cant think of another player who is as effective.

Good post Ace, spot on about Sissoko, he certainly deserves a mention after Saturday.  He has without a doubt got the best stamina levels of any footballer I have seen.  Even Gerrard was struggling in extra time but Momo didn't fade at all.

His passing is getting better too.  He'll never be a great passer, but he's learning his limitations and leaving the long passes to Stevie and Xabi.  He certainly doesn't lose possession as much as he used to.

In my opinion Sissoko is un-droppable with our current personnel.  He has to start every game.  One of the best I have seen at breaking up play.  He's not a holding player by any means, he wins the ball in more advanced positions - something like what Savage has done for Birmingham and Blackburn inrecent years, except Sissoko is much more effective at it and about 10 years younger.  He's a different sort of player to Vieira but could become just as good imo.

Yeah there is no way i would want to play a game without him in the side, he is now one of the certainties to start every game. The fact that Rafa rested him in of the last league games to save him being booked and suspended for the Chelsea semi shows how imortant he has become for us.
When he is in the side we dominate posession and control the game so much more, obviously due to the fact that as soon as an opposing player has the ball momo is all over him, they used to call Chris Perry of Wimbledon (now charlton) the rash cos he was said to be all over the oppostion like one, i wouldnt want to nick a crazy gang nickname but it would be far more apt for sissoko.

Sissoko is a fecking machine. He can't stop running. When's the last time you saw a player run more than anyone else, get a cramp and lie down. Get up right away and tackle a player and get the ball, then continue running.

Viera is a poor man's Sissoko, anyone who brands Sissoko the next anything should be shot. Momo Sissoko is Momo Sissoko not Viera, not Makelele & not Petit, he is MOMO SISSOKO, soon to be the greatest player the world has ever seen. Of course that's after both Gerrard and Alonso retire.

He is a machine by all accounts.  I read an interview with Benitez a while back and when speaking about Sissoko, apart from saying that his stamina during matches and training was unbelievable, he also says that he's the player in the squad who takes least time to recover after a game.  2 games a week is no problem for him, unlike other players who struggle with that aspect of the English football schedule.

Taking everything into account - his age, the price we got him at (4-5 million), his improvement in just one season with us and his overall effect on the team - he's quite possibly Benitez's best buy.  A bold statement considering Alonso's undoubted class, Reina's clean sheets and Garcia's goals over the last 2 seasons.  Alonso may just shade it at present, but for value for money Momo may eventually prove to be the best buy of the bunch.

I think you might be taking things a bit too literally.

I agree that they are best central midfield in the world (no questions asked) but I still feel that Rafa will try and play a 3-5-2 formation next season when he can!

On Sissoko - I think the lad has done his talking on the pitch this year. Comparing him to Vieira is harsh as, from what I recall of Vieira at that age, he was no where near as good as Sissoko!!  :buttrock

I think he could be another Roy Keane (without the madness). Keane knew he wasn't much of a passer or that creative so just destroyed the other teams play and gave the ball to another player and made himself available for the return pass. That is what Sissoko should be aiming for. Definately a first teamer for many years to come.

I cant agree that Keane wasnt much of a passer. His pass completion rate was consistently amongst the highest in the premiership.Sissoko was only just behind Gerrard for MOM on saturday and finally showed the world what a uniquely agressive athlete he is.Next season people will be talking about him as one of the top six of seven midfielders in England no doubt. But Liverpool fans knew that already.
