Who won't be here next season - I always hate this part

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Garcia is the type of player that you can always find a place in the squad. He can play on the flank, behind the striker or as a striker. He has been our supersub this season and has really payed off. I don't think he minds being that because he seems to be a good lad and has the experience of playing under Rafa.

He's always been inconsistant and Rafa gave up on changing the way he plays while he was at Tenerife. He's the type of player that you have to accept. He will frustrate the hell out of you but he will redeem himself with a crucial goal in spectacular fashion. 12 goals this season, 13 goals last season. That's quite a lot.

Welcome Back AB , you got parole then ?  :D

Regarding the Thread, there are 2 lists in my mind, those players I WANT to see go and thsoe that I THINK will go.

The day after the FA Cup Final it's probably not appropriate to talk of those who I hope wil leave so lets concentrate on the ones who I think will be off this summer.

Kromkamp,Traore, Cisse, Carson or Dudek, Kewell and Warnock.

Kromkamp,Traore, Cisse, Carson or Dudek, Kewell and Warnock.

-Why Kromkamp? I know that he's been linked with a move away from a club (what player hasn't?) but I think it's rubbish. Finnan only has a couple of years left in him and with next season which will probably bring a lot more games, Kromkamp can easily play a fair share of games.

-Kewell? Benitez rates Harry a lot. He scouted him when he was at Leeds and ever since he saw him play he's been impressed with him. In fact he wanted to sign him but Gerard beat him to the punch. He's gotten a lot of stick and most of it's has been a bit harsh. You can't control injuries and he has been lucky with them. This is the second or third final that he's gotten injured in. While he may not been in the form he was at Leeds, he has definetly helped us win games this season. So I can't see him moving on and he himself has dismissed those rumours. Benitez gave him support more than anyone else.

Morientes - Never really adapted to the English game. Sell him back to a Spanish club.

Cisse - A major disappointment. Spends most of the matches he plays in sulking and looking at the ref with a dopey look on his face.

Kirkland - Too injury prone.

Traore, Diao, Cheyrou  - Not good enough for LFC.

Gerrard - LOL!!! Just kidding.

Kromkamp isn't good enough AB. Sorry to be so blunt but he isn't and after one failed transfer to Villareal which didn't work out for him (Language problems ? ??? ) He's IMO got confidence issues. I don't know if you watched yesterday but he looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights on such a big stage.

Kewell is an enigma of a player and about as inconsistent as it's possible to be. After the FA Cup semi Final I thought he had finally turned the corner (and its been a long corner) but whatever you think About Benitez if a good offer comes in for him then he'll be gone IMO........

He came on and played on the right wing [he's a fullback, and we all know that Finnan was :censored: when he played there as well]. Not to mention that more than half of the squad could barely walk, hardly the ideal time to play.

The team yesterday hardly played well, and to single out Kewell is quite harsh. He's had trouble with injuries and for the most part he's got a bit of a break from them. He's picked another but he'll back in two weeks time.

If Benitez wanted to sell him, he would had done so a long time ago. He's stuck by him and put his faith in him.

If my Dog was as injured and incapacitatd as much as Kewell has been I'd have him put down  :D

Lets stop playing the "He'll come good when his injury worries are behind him" card cos we have been trotting that one out for the last 2 seasons at least !!!

We are on the ascent to the Holy Grail and there is no room for passengers. All the title winning teams in recent times have essentially been fit and injury free. The warmer climate in Spain may suit Kewell better so I'm thinking of him really  :D

Bugger off you bloody away jinx.................  :D

Come on mate, when Kewell has been injury free this season he's played well. He's improved in every game he's played in and was one of the reasons we were winning games the way we were.

I see that you've ignored my response to your statement on Kromkamp meaning that I was right  :D

I've got ALL 19 Away fixtures on my Fan card for the season so whilst you have been snatching whatever highlights the US networks can squeeze in inbetween Basketball and Baseball I've been there witnessing first hand Kewell's "Vital" contributions and take it from me there have been very very few away friom home with the exception of the Semi Final and Quarter Final ties in the FA Cup (I was at those as well)  :p

Execuse you but I watch our games on a footie channel and the highlights that are on there are from Sky Sports :D

I see that you failed to mention two goals that proved to be winners [against Man City and Tottenham], that's six points right there. :D

Well it's the day after the day after now, Ian, so I can say who I want to leave!!!!! :D

Here is a list of those players I'd like to see that back of and why:

1. Djimi Traore. The same reason I wanted rid last year, and the year before, and the year before, etc. He is a total liability, and seemingly goes out of his way to concede a goal. He offers nothing in attack, his positional sense is laughable, and he readsthe game like an illiterate.

2. Fernando Morientes. Has been (and let's be fair to him) absolutely shocking. If anything, he was a better player for us LAST season when he was supposedly forever injured and/or unfit.

3. Bruno Cheyrou. Do I really need to say it? (YES! I hear you cry!) OK:
He's sh*t.

4. Salif Diao. Makes Ronald McDonald look like a World-Class central midfielder.

5. Anthony Le Tallec. Was bought at the same time as Sinama Pongolle and was regarded as the better player.
I'll just p*ss myself on the floor for a moment.

6. Chris Kirkland. Nothing he's done. (Which basically sums up his entire career for us.) Dreadful injuries, and will never be the player we hoped we'd signed.

7. Zak Whitbred. Just isn't good enough.

Players I'd like to stay, who's futures with us are in doubt:

Djibril Cisse. I know - it's a shock, but he's actually looking like a player for us. He's not stropping around the pitch as much, he's working for the team, and he's scoring a sh*tload of goals.
I can't say I think his touch has improved, but he does look like he's knuckling down and working hard.
I'd keep him for at least 1 more season.

Luis Garcia. How can anyone seriously believe we will sell this gem? There are less than 5 players World-wide with this chap's style and unpredictability. We need Luis in our squad.

Jan Kromkamp. I like him. He is a utility man, and has put some decent appearances in. The main reason behind the talk of him leavingis because of what that prat Van B*stard has said about his not playing regularly affecting his international chances.
Well he's in your squad, you numbskull.

Steve Warnock. Unless we buy a top left-back, I'd keep this fella for cover. He could go through a Carragher-esk rise to fame as he has the same will and desire.
A bit too technically-lacking though, I feel, to become our long-term 1st choice.

Jerzy Dudek. Experienced cover, and with Carson looking somewhat out-of-favour, I'd rather have him than spend valuable money on someone else. (Except for Santiago Canizares from Valencia, who is/was fantastic.)

Sinama Pongolle. He's just got that something about his game that makes you think something is going to happen. He'll never be a regular 1st-choice, but he's worth a stay.

It wasn't Cruyff, it was Van Basten that critisized Kromkamp.

Steve Warnock. Unless we buy a top left-back, I'd keep this fella for cover.

If Aurelio comes in then Warnock should go. I know he's a local lad and he's passionate, but he needs to have the skill to go along with it and I've seen nothing that has been impressive.

I wont get into Kewell one, its been done to death, i backed him to come good last season and think he done enough this season.
I am though Ian puzzled about you wanting to get rid of Kronkamp.
Personally and yes i was just watching the game on TV (even worse with Andy Gray as comments man) but i thought Kronkamp did ok.
Im not expecting him to be  a world class player but a reliable understudy to Finnian.
He is a vast improvement on Josemi and for me is a solid squad player.

A.B I think I'd agree with you about Kewell, only because his form has just picked up and he started to show glimpse's of the Harry at Leeds. Rafa has stuck by him so to offload him now doesnt really make sense but like Dalglish said we're aiming for the holy grail and cant afford any passengers in the way of injuries. It would be pointless in keeping him if he's injuried most of the time, but like I said he did start to show form and that would sway me to keep hold of him for an extra year.
