Fair enough his finishings not been great but thats probably a confidence thing and at least hes in the right positions to score goals. The fact that there 20+ pages on the subject suggests alot of people are still unsure that selling him is the right thing to do,he deserves regular starts as a STRIKER then if hes not performing after a fair chance we should thimk about selling him.

Having pace doesn't make you a good footballer. Having pace and knowing how to utilise it best makes you a good footballer. Like said mate, he's got the potential to be a fcuking awesome player, if he just stopped and used a bit of nouse every now and then. He goes from looking like Henry (in terms of pace and threat, not necessarily skill though) to looking like a clueless school kid.

One thing that gets me about him (and to an extent El Moro) is that the're starting to up their game now we're reaching the end of the season. Coincidental?? Well given it's career crunch time and World Cup time I think not..

U all are losers
IF A :censored: CISSE WITH NO FINISHING SKILLS,NO VISION,NO
INTELLIGENCE CAN SCORE 18 GOALS A SEASON HOW MANY WOULD HE SCORE IF HE WAS BETTER IN FINISHING & AWARENESS...............30-35 thats a hell LOT.
SO UNLESS WE HAVE 20-25 MILLION to spend on just one striker
this summer,I think Cisse will not leave...........RAFA will work hard with him this summer & IF HE STAYS NEXT SEASON HE WILL BE A BETTER PLAYER THAT MEANS 35 GOALS FROM CISSE.
MAY THIS DREAM COME TRUE

I dont think Rafa will sell Cisse ... He scored more , played less games and most of these games, he played out of position.

thats why rafa plays him as a winger ,to improve his ability to read the game, just like he does with youth players........Rafa will have a plan for cisse, he will make him improve his awareness & finishing....thats what Rafa does turning stone to gold..............he is not an impatient guy like us who post here.......o'wise anybody could have been the manager of Liverpool FC.(Have patience as Rafa had with Kewell.........Cisse can deliver.........his 18
goals deserve another season)

In Rafa I beleive.............so whatever he does I beleive in him.If he keeps Cisse I beleive that Cisse will score 35 goals nxt season & then everyone will shut up as they did with Kewell........
I'm not a cisse supporter but now I know from rafa that belief pays off.Nxt season .............a new Liverpool era starts........................
Man I'm getting too optimistic already.........may be I'm drunk but who cares.............

Depends how much money we have in transfer kitty doesn't it? Cisse has started to show signs of improvement but as StMike said isn't it a coincidence that he's showing some signs of imrprovement now when it's World Cup time and career time? And Cisse's recently come out and commented on the World Cup.

I hope he goes and we sign someone who has a good all round game to them, that would be worth more than Cisse's pace.

It's amazing how many people's view's have changed due to a recent spring in form from him though. Cisse has been very unlucky this season to start out right wing and does need a season upfront. But we as a club have to continue moving forward - do we wait around for Cisse to become good?

Recent form means it is hard to criticize Cisse, however you have to judge a player over the season and not over the end of the season. For example, looking at Raul from Real Madrid last season he was brilliant in the last month but over the whole season he was quite poor.

I'm pleased with the recent form Cisse has shown but he has to improve a lot of areas if he is to stay and get games next season.

lets face it, he's the only one worth cashing in on...and that will still be considerably less than the club paid for him..

id be surprised if cisse could fetch more than 8 mill.

as for second chances...rafa already has said "there are key decisions to make now, for the future".  in that light id expect cisse to be on his way.

however, stranger things have happened..... we'll see.

I think he is a good player.  He proves this by scoring the goals he does!

Yes, I must admit I'm one who's starting to come around a bit on Cisse.  I agree that there are a number of aspects to his game and his attitude that need improvement but I'm starting to appreciate the difference he can make on a game, at least against weaker opposition (which is still something useful to us).

Don't get me wrong.  If Rafa secures the signature of two quality forwards and has the funds to bring them in (in addition to a RM), I'd be glad to sell both Cisse and Nando this summer.  (And, Red37 mate, I think Nando is still a marketable asset for us in Spain...Sabre has noted a number of Spanish outfits that would surely show an interest in him in the Cisse vs. Nando thread I started in the Football-Related Polls section.)

BUT, if we can only afford to bring in one new forward this summer and are thus forced to keep either Nando or Cisse (assuming Pongolle is not in Rafa's plans), I would certainly keep Cisse at this point for two reasons:

(1) He's simply outperformed Nando this season: double the goals in fewer minutes, many of them played on the right (check out TheOracle's latest stats blitz on our strikers in the Players Lounge for the details).  While I have and will continue to argue with anyone who says that it's just about the goals when evaluating forwards, I do think it's hard to conclude that Nando has contributed more to the club than Cisse (at least on the pitch) this season.

AND

(2) Cisse offers something that the rest of our current strikers do not: pace. And, he's shown this to be an important weapon over the past few weeks: he caused Portsmouth immediate problems when introduced last weekend; he skinned Melberg and set Crouchy up with a golden opportunity against Villa; he gave Anton Ferdinand a torrid time at Upton Park; and he had Robinson twisted in knots at West Brom.  Now, I concur with GaryMac (and others) who insist that Cisse's not been good enough against the top sides (as demonstrated at the tail end of the FA Cup Semi) but his ability to punish weak defenses is a valuable weapon to have in the squad...especially since we aspire to play a lot of games each season and plan to have a large squad with significant player rotation to keep legs fresh and results ticking over.

On the other hand, I have a hard time seeing what Nando offers that Robbie doesn't already do better: Robbie's shown he can drop deep to collect the ball, becoming a play-maker for his strike partner and he's shown the kind of finishing that we expected to get, but haven't, from Morientes.  While Robbie and Nando have linked up decently over the last few weeks, I think their roles overlap somewhat and there's no point keeping both when we bring in a new striker.

So, in sum, our Djibril's not a world-beater and may never be, and if we are able to attract and afford two class forwards this summer, he'll need to go...but, if circumstances dictated that we had to keep 3 of our current 4 forwards next season, I'd now be more comfortable keeping Cisse than Nando.  And, having criticized him and wishing to be rid of him for the better part of the season, that's saying something for me!  :D

Oh come on guys, most of you know your stuff on here, don't be fooled.

Get yourself in front of the tv and put on the last 20 of the FA cup semi. Never has one period of play encapsulated the desire, ability and mentality of a player more.

We need a real "go to" striker and if you are all honest with youselves you know Cisse is not the answer. Inconsistent bursts of form in the run up to a world cup are simply not enough to command that famous no9 shirt!

I WAS WATCHING THE DVD OF LAST SEASON EARLIER AND CISSE LOOKED LIKE A REALLY DECENT PLAYER. OBVIOUSLY IT ONLY SHOWS THE BETTER BITS BUT WEVE GOT TO THINK OF HOW WE WOULD FEEL MOVING TO ANOTHER COUNTRY WITH A 14 MIL PRICE TAG, STARTING TO SETTLE IN THEN BREAK A LEG, RECOVER THEN DONT GET A GOOD RUN IN THE TEAM AND HAVING CONSTANT SPECULATION THAT YOURE GOING TO BE LEAVING. I HONESTLY BELIEVE IF HE HAS A GOOD RUN OF GAMES HE'LL SCORE HIS FAIR SHARE, IMPROVE HIS CONFIDENCE AND HOPEFULLY BECOME ONE OF OUR STAR PLAYERS.
WHAT DO YOU LOT RECKON THE CHANCES OF US GETTING VAN NISTLEROOY ARE AND WOULD YOU WANT HIM? THE PAPERS ARE SAYING MANURE WANT 10 MIL.

I can't believe what I'm reading, some ppl would rather keep Cisse over Moro? w.t.f is going on here? Whilsy Cisse has improved and looks a slightly bigger threat on goal, his all round ability is non-existant. Morientes has all the ability and has also performed a little better in recent weeks. On top of everything else Nando like him or not looks a lot more committed to the team than Cisse does. Morientes wants to prove himself and doesn't go out DJ'in till 1am and doesn't spend more time designing clothes than focusing football, saying that I can't see Rafa giving up on Morientes. He never gave up on Kewell, so I can't see him giving up on Morientes.

I'll be shocked if Cisse stays.

Cisse has shown a big improvement in the last few weeks, but is it just another false dawn? if he can build on this then we should keep him, I trust Rafa to do the right thing though.
