Hitzfeld has been sacked - Move quickly

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Big Niall » Tue May 18, 2004 5:41 pm

I have read that Otmar Hetzfeld of Bayarn Munich has been sacked for not winning a trophy  this year.

I think he'd be a great choice for our new manager.

No stupid German bashing please ( if it wasn't for the Nazis we wouldn't have had Hogans Heros, the great escape, Indina Jones or the producers).

The guy has won the CL and has many leagues to his name, is used to a big club with high profile players and speaks English. I don't think he was ever a petty school teacher.

He has won 4 league championships in 6 years. Bayern has performed well in CL most years under his reign. This year Bayern was knocked out in the early stages and they finished, as number two, 9 points behind Werder. This is not good enough for Bayern. Hitzfeld was sacked.

Every top club in europe have this policy. Sink or swim. Failing managers are not allowed to drag the club down with them. The same goes for the players. Underperformers have short lives.

What about Liverpool? Failing managers and players are allowed to stay. This promotes mediocrity. And mediocrity is exactly what we have gotten from this team during the last 10 years. This must come to and end. We have to start thinking and acting like a top team.
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.

No use considering...the board is in the dreamland laying out plans on how to spend the Thai money than to consider a change in the management. Too much work

Maurinho ? O'Neill ? ... now this guy Hetzfeld is a true pedigree, the real McCoy ... pity another window of opportunity went begging !

hitzfeld is imo among the best managers in the world! before he went to germany he was manager (and player) in switzerland, therefore i know him for quite some time.

better signing him today than tomorrow cause i think teams like real madrid might be interested in signing him, too.

Yes I know boys, lets hire a manager, and if they dont win the league in the first year, lets sack them.

Then lets hire a manager, and if they dont win the league in the first year, lets sack them.

Do you get my point?

no because nobody was ever suggesting that this is the approach that we should be taking. just pointing out what different clubs regard being "successful" as. ???

If you want to go that way then we would have had 15 different managers since the last time we won the league, and I am sure you will agree that is the ONLY measure of success LFC fans are intrested in.

So the argument dies.....
