Owen still insists to leave? - What's your saying?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

i really think Cisse is going to be the real deal!  Unlike Doofus, he's a proven goal scorer and even (dare I say it) Henry rates him!

What we have lacked is 2 (yes 2!) goal scorers and i think Baros, Cisse, Owen will be a force to be reaconed with.  All we need now is a couple of defenders, a right winger and a centreal midfielder!

cisse is sh#t hot believe me. he scored another brace last night to take his tally to 29 for the season. him and owen upfront is a mouthwatering prospect. surely there's 50+ goals there. :)

with the strike force sorted, we really need to get a new central defender and some more creative midfield.  Any suggestions on a right winger?

andy van der meyde please. unhappy at inter and played at the top level. wright-phillips, although good, is a big fish in a small pond for me. lets face it, he didn't have to be amazing to look good in that man city side did he?

some of you have got it right. Owen will not sign until after Euro C'ship. If he have a good tournament, he will be in high demand. He will then sign a one year contract with LFC with a get out clause probably in the region of 20~25M. If things don't improve under GH next season (i.e still playing him as a lone striker or not signing anyone who can provide him with good services), he is off!

Anyone share my concern that some players are fed up with GH's tactics and team selection, but have not voiced out publicly? I have looked at Owen and can see his frustration during matches. Same with Kewell, when things don't go well, his work rate dropped drastically. Gerrard's attitute however is world class!

For GH, he will be hoping Cisse will be an instant hit and will cushion any blow if and when Owen leaves.

Just my opinion...

couldn't agree more. with the exception of god (stevie g) and to a lesser extent carragher, i don't hear anyone coming out with a battle cry when things haven't been going well. these two are scousers through and through and would literally die for the club.

as for the others, their body language at times tell you that they are not happy with the systems and tactics with which they are asked to play. however any criticism which is levelled at the manager should not be vented publically if it is potentially going to damage team morale. if it is constructive then it is acceptable.

Spot on Stmichael. Slagging of the manager or tactics in public doesn't do anyone any good. It'll come down to how approachable GH is, and if he takes his ball home if he gets upset.

I think Cloughie was an unapproachable manager, He said if any player had a problem the could dicuss it with him, then after 30 mins of discussion they'd agree he was right.

I know it might be a stupid question and off the topic, but I wasn't around at times Shankly's leading.

"Can you think of some major differences between GH and Shankly?"

there is a crucial difference between the two generations.  Shankly’s and Paisley’s sides altered their approach according to the situation.  They could play beautiful flowing football just as much as they could hold out for a boring nil – nil draw.  The current Liverpool team cannot do likewise.  Or, at least, the willingness to switch the style of play doesn’t seem to be there.

simple really

Major differences...one will not settle for anything less than being the best in the land and the Continent, the other call it an achievement merely finishing fourth and gets into qualifiers.
One make the best out of a small squard of core players while the other sign expensive flops then blame injuries for underachievement.
One play "OUR" brand of football and let the opponent worry about how to cope with us. The other change strategy according to each opponents, and if things failed, too tactically inept to change the course of the game.
I could go on but I consider it a waste of bandwidth and my fingers muscle trying to compare Houllier and Shankly!
