Saturday six - (coz we didn't have a friday five)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby The Ace1983 » Sat May 06, 2006 9:37 am

Seeing as no-one did a friday five this week, I figured we could have a saturday six, especially seeing as we aren't playing until tomorrow.

1. Which game from this season has been you favorite? Which one will you always remeber and why?

2. If you could bring any player, currently employed abroad into the team for next season, who would it be?

3. What is your ultimate matchday food? Sounds like a bit of a weird one but I can't think of any football fan I know who doesn't have some sort of food based ritual on matchday.

4. With the lack of games for Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge not impressing much this season, does Stephen Warnock disserve an England call up, or at least a second thought?

5. You're having a dinner party, and you are allowed to invite 5 Liverpool players/managers, past or present. Who would you invite and why?

6. God's cup tied and Little Luis is banned for the final. With this in mind, who starts against Portsmouth, and who starts in Cardiff?

1. Probably either the Anfield derby when gerrard got sent off. It was great to see the players battling on and you could see that they wanted to win it for stevie. Pure team spirit. The atmosphere was great and of course it's good to get a win against neverton. The other option is the chelsea game at OT, you wouldn't believe how happy I was after that game. Great to see us dominate them for 70 mins, especially after the drubbing at anfiled earlier. Again the atmosphere was out of this world.

2. Probably eto because we need a good striker with pace and he is just what we need.

3. Funny because I always go to McDonalds in edge lane before a game :D

4. There is certainly alot of talent in him. He needs to improve a few parts of his game first but he is still young. He definately deserves a 2nd thought. He was in great form earlier in the season but since kewell has came back he has dropped out of the team. Plus he was included in a earlier england squad.

5. Shankly, Kenny Dalglish, Carra, Stevie G and Rafa. (other options are big ron, ian st john and aldo)

6. Depends really. If cisse turns up and produces a good performance then we play very good. If he doesn't we play bad and waste chances and give the ball away, and get caught offside too much. Moro on the other hand is too slow but cisse has pace. We all know these players can produce the goods but they don't do it often enough. I wouldn't like to be picking the team for the final, I'll tell you that. Whoever Rafa picks, I feel he knows what he is doing.

1: The Merseyside derby at Anfield.

2: Samuel Eto'o or Ronaldinho.

3: Big quarter pounder with chip's and red sauce.

4: Yep, I think Warnock definitely deserves a place in the squad, his a commited player and always tries his best.

5: Benitez, Shankly, Gerrard, Fowler and Carragher.

6: I think theres only one option, and that is to start Cisse. Out of all our strikers he offers the biggest goal threat.

1.  Liverpool v Chelsea in FA Cup Semi - The way we outplayed them for 60 mins was amazing.  Plus they were all over the place at 2-0 down.

2.  Toughie - I'd probably go for Eto coz we need a striker, but wouldn't it be amazing if we had Ronaldinho playing for us (Not that it's likely to happen)

3.  Burger & Chips/Fish & Chips

4.  He's in with a shout but he himself hasn't had many games of late.  Positionally, i'm not sure he's up to it at the highest level either.

5.  Shankly, Dalglish, Rush, Carragher & Benitez.

6.  Portsmouth - Fowler & Crouch up front.  Gerrard & Kewell wide, Sissoko & Alonso in the middle, Defence, Warnock, Hypia, Carra & Krompkamp, Reina in goal.
West Ham - Crouch with Gerrard off him up Front.  Midfield - Kewell, Alonso Sissoko & Cisse (Big gamble i know, but he was a threat against them recently and will be confident) Back Four - The usual - Risse, Carra, Hyppia & Finnan and Reina in goal again.

May aswell give my thoughts as well.

1. When we lost at Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Sounds strange I know, but hear me out. For the first third of the match we were not only stopping them in the middle and displaying our prowess, but we were pushing forward a bit as well. And after they smashed us at Anfield, I didn't hold out much hope of any sort of possitive football, so I was more than pleasently surprised and it showed how far we've come in less than a season. Things did take a bad turn, but the hope that first 30mins gave me is still there. And this wasn't like the Semi Final, which impressive as it was, was not against the normally brutal Chelsea that exists in the Premiership.

The other aspect of that game that really came across was of course the sending off of Pepe. People really saw how devious and undiserving Chelsea were when Robben fell over and the popular support that this event could bring to us if we become their main rivals could be invaluable.

The Everton game comes in at a very close 2nd and when Stevie got sent off, I could only hope for a 0-0. Excellent display from the lads and what a win.

2. I've always thought that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be fantastic in the Premiership, but Adriano gets my vote here. He's very creative and resembles an intelligent and more predatory Van Horseface, with a lot more skill as well. Other notable mentions go to Kaka, Ronaldinho and Tevez.

3. Big, greasy sausage in a long white roll with slightly burned onions and tomato ketchup, lots of tomato ketchup. Mmm....

4. I find this a really hard one to answer. He looks like he's the future of the English left back, after Ashley Cole has matured by now. Cole is a certainty and is probaly one of the top three LBs in the world, though he's better going forward than defending. Bridge has had it. Not worth the ticket in my book and though Cole hasn't had much pitch time either, whereas the Arsenal player's quality remains, Bridge looks tired and out of practice. Konchesky is another option worth consideration, but Carragher is the certain cover player for the entire defence so Cole may be the only natural LB we take.

Warnock did start well, and he's had a bit of a rough time with injuries by all account, but he's certainly getting better wit time. He'd certainly be adequate cover, though he has more chance of getting to Swi/Aus in two years time.

5. I love this question. Shanks would be fantastic and I dare say would prompt a few "debates". I'd love to have Rafa there just to work out what's in his head, because, he's still quite a mysterious bloke in my eyes. Stevie, because he's Stevie (legend) and Robbie because he's God. And finally, my personal favourite of all time is Stevie McManaman.

6. I'd start against Pompey with Robbie and Nando, bringing on Cisse and Crouch to keep them sharp in the second half. Then I'd start against the Hammers with the frenchman and the giant. If Cisse's on form, he can be good, but he's only there because Nando's pretty useless and we have no other options.

lol, just met him a couple of times since and he has been sound.

ok:
1:for me it was the luton game. juist to see alonsos genius (and yes, i made some money). another good comeback and it showed that we had the character that weve lacked in recnt years.

2: id like to see xavi whos plays at barca. seeing him and alonso together for spain against england they were awesome together.

3: food? its bottles of bud, whch i only drink now when watching us play. no food sorry

4 :no stephen fdoesnt deserve a 2nd thought this time sorry. well maybe, but only a brief second thought. i dunno tho, its just too big an occasion for him at the moment and he needs more matchplay. whatever u sa about cole or bridge, they can do the job. and we got players like carra who can cover if needed.

5:macca, mcateer, dalglish, gerrard, biscan

6:cisse and croch, go full at 'em.. genius

1. Manchester United FA Cup win - We had lost and drawn to ManU and of all the games, I really wanted to win this one and to knock out the Mancs.

2. Dirk Kuijt

3. XXXX Gold and a hot dog.

4. Second thought.

5. Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard, Rafa Benitez, Ian Rush and Jerzy Dudek.

6. Portsmouth - Dudek, Finnan, Carra, Hyppia, Warnock, Gerrard, Alonso, Momo, Riise, Fowler, Cisse.

West Ham - Reina, Finnan, Carra, Hyppia, Riise, Gerrard, Alonso, Momo, Kewell, Crouch, Cisse.

And what the f*ck is that supposed to mean?  :D

I'm 21 just for the record.

I met the whole Liverpool team on one occasion and Macca was an ignorant c*nt, wouldn't talk to anyone or sign autograph's - usually that wouldn't bother me as I'm sure it get's tiring and repetitive for them, but the whole team was there and didn't have any problem's socialising with anyone. Then you have the transfer saga to Real Madrid, he done us over and turned his back. Then to add to that, he recently said he's a blue and would bring his children up that way too...although that isn't nothing too big, it's a bit of an insult.
