don't laugh, but does an ooter become an 'in-town' supporter if they grew up elsewhere then move into liverpool and live there? Just want to clear up this technicality.

look this is getting way too touchy lads, to answer your question id say an oot is someone who supports liverpool and lives and was born else where. I am an oot, but My dads side are scouse so I was brought up a red and knew the history, and the culture from me dads side.

This could be the problem. out of town supporters don't like to chant because they lack the scousce accent, and if the scouscers aren't chanting they are going to look like idiots if they don't. At the same time all the liverpudlians blame the out of town supporters.

I'm from out of town (Inverness to be exact) and I can assure you it wouldnt matter if the Scousers was chanting or not I sure wuld be cheering on the Red men of Anfield!!!

After all that is what I would be there for!!!!

Regardless that everyone would hear my Scottish accesnt I wouldnt care, I would just care that LFC had the support behind them and won the game!!

Moral of story - shouldnt matter if your a Liverpudlian or not - if you are there you are there to cheer the guys on so dont be so shy - thats my opinion anyway

There are people on this forum that know next to nothing about the game, have clearly never played it to any sort of level and to be honest when you scratch the surface don't really know that much about their beloved 'home town club'.  Scouse people who go to the games week in week out are the proper fans and obviously have more of an affinity with the club than someone like myself who can only make it to a few games per season, but I don't accept the whole 'I'm scouse so I have more of a right to support the club than you' to.ssers on this site, many of whom probably don't even go  to Anfield as regularly as me despite living down the road from it.

To be honest I'm considering giving this site a miss from now on.  It's gone so far down hill now it's not even funny.  It's now a place where clueless spam-merchants have some kind of cult status and decent knowledgeable posters are few and far between.

Who mentioned Irish at any point on this thread, not one person has mentioned a certain place so why do you feel the need to??

Dont try and make out people have knocked the Irsish on here becuase they fuc*ing havent

Im saying becuase its fact, if you apply for tickets through post to LFC then your are more likely to get one if you live outside Liverpool, its been like that for years, and why, becuase people who dont live by the ground and dont come here often spend a lot more money at matches.

Supersub has got it spot on, build up your fan card with games and over the years you will realise you start off slow but try and get to every game availble and they soon mount up and it soon gets easier. Ive just started getting into the away games this season and ive got 4 on me fancard, and for next season ill be able to go to games i couldnt have this season thus enabling me to go to more next season until im virtually garenteed a ticket for away games, same with the cups as well.

And thats what its about these days,

Gary MAc - I am afraid that season to season loyalty only applies to Season Ticket holders and not fan card holders.

i live in bristol wat if any of u guys no is a while away from liverpool and i aint even got the money to go to a liverpool match but next season i will save every penny and i will be going to as many matches as i can and i think thats wat being a true liverpool fan is about even if u dont hav the money u still find a way to get the money by doing work that u really really dont wanrt to do and not getting paid that well for it just to go to watch a match. i c some fans going about saying they r true fans because they earn 100k a year and can afford it and then they say that i am not a true fan just because i'm not rich and because i cant afford everything or to go c every match. but the truth is i give more then wat they do even though they spend alot more money on it
R.I.P to the 96 that lost there lives on 15th of april 1989

cant we just be fans that support and love the club?
cant we all just be together on this instead of arguing no some geographical non entity. What next, will race and religion coem into wheyher or not u r a true supporter?

I support liverpool, im from london, leon is proper scouse, lionheart is from down under, pablo escobar is from some dodgy euro country (hehe)

end of the day we all love the team, the club, the history, everything.
we are supposed to have the most informed fans in the country, but with cr@p like this we arent.

lets all just be happy that we support the greatest team in the world.

thanks

Being both a scouser and a season ticket holder who now lives in Surrey I couldn't give a sh1t where liverpool fans come from as long as they get behind the team! In Istanbul I met reds from all over the country and abroad, we all got together and made one hell of an impression out there. Surely that can only be positive for the club. Anyone who really feels offended by oot'ers, p1ss off to one of the other forums that have been set up for your kind you single minded, knuckle dragging tw@ts!!

i hold e-season ticket and fan card and buy many merchandises and all jerseys since 1999

but i can't go to every match for "unfortunate" geographical factor

and i don't care if assumed not a loyal fans for that

i love LFC for my own self, and not really hoping to receive recognition and not really sad when being put aside

i love LFC for a very personal reason, like a religion

Just read through most of this thread again and it is a pity that it has descended into the old OOT debate again, i am also a little bit guilty as i added to it.
The actual point of the thread has gone out of the window really.

How do we get the atmosphere at Anfield to be better in the lower profile games, against the so-called lesser sides ?
Could the allocation of Kop tickets be done better ? It may sound stupid but i have been in the Kop so many times in games were the atmosphere has been dire, Charlton this season was poor, there was no encouragement and the atmosphere was not good at all.
It would be very difficult to do but maybe there should be some sort of policy in place were anyone that goes in the Kop should realise that you have to sing in there, there are plenty of other parts of the ground were people can sit without singing and just watch the match but imo too many people go in the Kop because of its tradition to sample the unique atmosphere not realising they have a duty sitting there to help amplify it. I know it would be too difficult to do this as there is no way of knowing if a fan will sing, but the fans of the club should imo all join in singing if they want to sit in that area.

It's a bit of a grey area that, I would give you the benefit of the doubt

No-one can be up for every game, not the players or the fans.  It's impossible (without the use of illegal substances!)  The atmosphere is very good when we need it to be, and naturally eases off for less important games.  I reckon it's human nature and can't be changed.
